Review: Ultima Interior Guard Plus+

Thanks for the great review. I also am looking for a great matte finish dressing that provides protection as I've been using 1Z cockpit premium. My only concern is do you feel it is safe to still use the 1Z for maintenance cleaning? You mentioned it easily removed spots from your aluminum so will it also remove the Ultima from the other treated surfaces?

Thank you very much! You know, if the 1Z Cockpit and SONAX Dashboard had protection, I doubt I would have even bought the UIGP. Oh well, I really enjoy it so I guess all is not lost. Thanks for the comments!
Thank you for the compliments! You know, I don't think that it would remove the Ultima from the treated surfaces, and here's why: once the product cures it lasts months, even when these products are used according to reviews and tests that I have seen. 1Z Cockpit is a true maintenance product, not made for heavy cleaning but just light dust and finger prints - that type of thing, so I don't think it really has enough to take it off. It removed it from the aluminum so easily because it was only on there for a few minutes, max. If it was cured on for days, well, then it may have required something stronger or multiple attempts with the 1Z Cockpit to get it off.
Would it weaken it, that I don't know and it very well could. I will continue to use 1Z to clean and if I see any deterioration of the dressing I will make sure to report back. I am thinking, though, even with regular cleanings, I will see 3-6 months protection - minimum! Only time will tell...
I didn't, Fred, and the reason why is I am testing out some new leather cleaners and conditioners. I should have a review of SONAX Leather Foam in the next week or so. I know everyone loves the soft feeling that UIGP gives, and I'm sure I will be experiencing it very, very soon! Thanks for the comments.

In fact, I really considered the Wolfgang but it came down to price and the fact that I wanted to stay as close to factory as possible, and your comments said that you picked it because of the darkening effect. I really think they are both fantastic products, and thanks for linking your review so people can see the best of both worlds.
All I want is for people to have reasonable choices and have a better idea of what the product is going to do. As long as I do it, I don't care if they buy it or not, but I don't want people to waste money on something that doesn't fit their wants or needs. I think both reviews are great, especially when combined! Thanks! :dblthumb2:

UPDATE!
Here are some pictures that I was able to take with the top down and the sun shining. Hopefully this will give everyone a more true sense of how the interior looks, the type of shine UIGP gives, and just an overall idea of what you’re going to get with this product.
Because I am an idiot, I just pulled the car over on the road and started snapping pictures. Now, I don’t know much about photography but I do no you’re not supposed to face the sun, so I flipped the car around and took these pictures, which I think are better representations.
I hope these pictures help! I want them to kind of speak for themselves, which is why I did not add any text between the pictures showing what it is of (i.e. driver’s side door, passenger dash, center console, etc.). Not only can most people figure that out if they care to (and some don’t care, period) but I am more than happy to answer any specific questions you have regarding anything in these new pictures, or the original review.
I look forward to any questions or comments, and happy detailing!

I use this stuff too, (convertible) and pretty much slather it all over everything in the car, minus the seats, glass, and instrument cluster - although I have applied it there as well.
I find on smooth plastic, buffing it down in a few minutes gets rid of high spots. I also find you NEVER want to press strait down on the applicator - or you just created a high spot.

if it makes you feel better, i had that issue with dark dashboards too....Wolfgang cockpit didn't have this issues. It was one of two reason i prefer Wolfgang Cockpit or UIGP.

Did you try to wipe it with a damp mf to wipe away the streaks? After all it is an interior and not an exterior dressing.
I'll try the damp cloth and see what it removes and if it takes it off I'm going to use duragloss vinyl and leather dressing. It seems to be pretty durable when exposed to water.
From my pics, the UIGP darkened the plastic a lot more than I expected side by side with the spots that it ran off. Almost as much as 303 AP.

Wow, sorry if you used my review, bought the product and didn't like it. I wouldn't hype a product unless I thought if was high quality, and in my experience the darkness and shine really toned down as the product dried.
I don't know if the damp cloth will remove the dressing. Do you have an interior cleaner? If so, I may use that, and it may require multiple attempts to clean it completely off, assuming you want to just apply the Duragloss product and be done with it.
Again, sorry you've had a bad experience and I hope that it is able to clean up somewhat easily.
I already had the product before your review.
It is good stuff just maybe not what I need for my daily driver that sees rain.
If I wiped the rain off before it dried it might not have ran, but I didn't have a microfiber on me.
I will try to use their shampoo gel and see if it removes it, I don't think it'll be a problem.
I've heard of people using UWW+ to maintain the UIGP also. I might have to try that.

Ultima Interior Guard Plus is another of this companies lineup of great products. Interior Guard Plus goes on so easily and leaves the finish looking clean and new. I also like its scent isn't over powering like some interior products.
My only dislike is the sprayer. Ultima should replace the existing with a small trigger type making it easier to control and handle...
The pump sprayer on the bottle I purchased didn't work at all, and I am still aggravated about it. I regret buying this product based on that alone.

How does this product stack up against Optimum Leather Protectant. From the descriptions, they both appear to be similar in purpose.
I'm considering moving on from 303, and looking at other options.

After reading this thread, and still be miffed at the pump sprayer not working, I applied the product to my car. I really like the look, it spreads evenly and the smell isn't too bad. It's been said before but at $19.99 for 4 ounces = $639.68 per gallon. That's some valuable stuff, of course, I don't think you could use a gallon in a lifetime.
