Who likes people touching their car???

95% of people don't care and don't have respect. They aren't as educated as the people on this website and aren't aware what they are doing can mar and swirl the paint.
With that being said, I hate when people even walk by my car. I need a piece of crap beater.

The car gets touched by a lot worse than people. Street grime, exhaust, water splash, mud... people touching it does not bother me at all. Quick wipe with a mf towel, and a quick detailer, and voila... all new again...

Not a chance, that's not the creed of a true autogeek, tell me that when they have a pair of jeans with metal rivets on the back pockets on or dangling keys and they put a nice big scratch in your paint down past the clear, don't think you'll be so understanding then.

I don't even really touch my paint unless I have a microfiber towel or my microfiber gloves on. Skin, even dry looking skin, leaves oil on the surface and I simply don't like it. That being said, don't touch my paint and you better not lean or sit on my car or it is "go time".

I work in a restaurant and run caterings in my personal car. Sometimes the catering client will meet me at my car to pick up the food where they have to sign the receipt.. Guess where the first place they put the receipt followed by the pen is?!?!?!

nope.. I have a neighbor whos kid has rubbed up against my car (Black 350z) Flawless paint and he doesn't say anything and when I tell her no he acts like it's rude. So I said, I'll send you my invoice for buffing it out.. ignorant people!

Maybe you should invest in a clip board :dblthumb2:

I wear specific clothes when detailing my car.
I get nervous when anyone is near my car.

Hahaha. I feel the same way! That's why I carry a plush micro and Detailer in the trunk!

I like to detail my car, same way I like to vacuum my carpet or shine my shoes. But I don't sweat about people touching my car, the same way I don't sweat about getting any other item I own dirty. I don't park half way across the parking lot for fear someone will ding my car. It's just a car...
That's just me... It does not mean it's right or wrong, it's simply how I roll.

Nothing wrong with this- probably keeps your blood pressure lower than mine.

For me touching my car is almost like coming up and touching me. It's like you just invaded my personal space. Maybe that's weird... but it's me :D

Ya, I'm not to thrilled about people touching my car but what really drives me nuts is when someone leans on it to talk. At that point I'll just ask the they get off my car, seriously it not for taking some stress of your feet. :nomore:

Of course I never have, or ever will, condone this type of action.
But I do see this as an educational-opportunity for the parties involved in such actions:
Excellent time to perhaps see CCW/CHL/Stand-Your-Ground Laws in action.

"Lemonade from Lemons", as the saying goes.

I get nervous as well, park far away from others, and my paint is 100% perfect.

One of my friends however, has 4-6 dings, scratches, etc. because he tries to park as close as possible to a store..Well there you go.

It's kind of like paying $15,000 for a Rolex, and hitting it against a wall on purpose to ruin it.

If everyone respected everyone else and their property, then there wouldn't be an issue and I'd park in the first spot.

But most people don't seem to care or are wrapped up in their own lives. They don't care if they themselves or their kid throws a door open and hits the car next to them. Maybe they do care, and it was an accident... it happens.

This is why I park in "strategic" spots. They are usually not convenient, and not usually close to the door. I'm just trying to take carelessness or human error out of the equation. You can't change someone else's behavior... only your own.

My husband used to get annoyed at me for taking too long to find "the right spot". Now he does it. HA!

@DetailKitty. Same here, my wife used to get annoyed at the fact that I park in the furthest parking spots at malls.

It even irritates me when I go to fill fuel and the petrol attendants leave smudgy finger prints all over the petrol flap area.

Lol talking about touching car.

I , myself i don't even allow myself touch the paint anytime after it is being driven, the only time i really touch the paint is when i wash the car.
It is my believe that, whenever the car leaves the garage or parked in the garage for a day or 2. It is not safe for touching, other wise it will scratch the paint.

Most people don't care how they close the doors when they get out of the car, i specifically tell my gf and parents, when they do ride in my car, they have to close the door by pushing on that (PLASTIC BLACK HANDLE ONLY)
Don't put ur finger on the paint.
However... sometimes they still forget about that simple rule lol.

That is exactly what i do when i park.
I find a spot where there is NO ONE parked around me and pretty far from the entrance.

However every time i come out, i see whole bunch of cars parked next to me. I am like WT!#$%^!??!!?
There was NO CARS 30 mins ago.

Early in the morning when you are the first one in the lot as the store is just opening, you can park a mile and a half away from the doors of the opening establishment and it never fails that some idiot decides to park right beside your car.

Does this happen just to me or do you guys see this happen too?

I actually do not park a mile away from everyone....

When I bought my VERY first new car I used to park way away from everyone... then about 2 weeks after I had my new car I came out of work and someone had keyed down the entire one side of it. Lesson learned.

So now it's park in a spot not right next to anyone, but still in with other cars. Never next to giant SUVs or minivans... these scream children to me. If I can, I find the end spot, so I can be as far over as possible from the other car. And end spots with as much curb around them are prime spots for me.

This happened a few weeks ago at no other place than you guess it, Walmart! Was literally 50 yards from the nearest car parked all the way on the end spot and came back out 10 mins later and some POS old jeep was parked almost door to door to me.
They do it just to piss you off. I wish I could catch them in the act and I would say something but that never happens.
