Auto Detailing Day at Tuscarora Dave's (South Central PA)

Dave I think you can count me in, however I will only get there for the second half of the day. Wouldn't mind meeting a bunch of the guys from around here.

Dave... you can take my status of "hopeful" off and count me in. It will be my "vacation" this year! really looking forward to meeting everyone.

Center Township not for from Center VFW :)

Of course on a hot day I could be seen having a cold one there :)

Sorry, threadjack. I'm going to check my vacation schedule here at work, but I think I'll be able to make that Sunday. Looking forward to it!

15.B.A.P.S. automotive paint supply (non-member hopeful)

I've been networking with this paint supply store (BAPS) and had invited them to my shop before to learn the use of, and the difference between DAT and SMAT compounds and polishes. These guys are a PPG Platinum dealer and really only know what works on freshly sprayed paints.

I have been working with them to give them an understanding of how correcting fully cured older paints works. Hopefully they'll be sending a few of their guys out to this detailing day to gain a better understanding of it all so in the end, they can better serve their clientele base, and I can strengthen my relations with more local car guys.

Above is the most current list of attendees.

Remember, this is no "Detail Fest" in that I won't have any flashy signs, banners, product giveaways etc. but rather a group of detailing enthusiasts gathering in one place, in order to have fun and meet others, learn a little, and teach a little, about the craft of paint correction and detailing in general.

I don't want to paint any inaccurate pictures of anything more.

:props:

These events are usually the best for learning, because we each have our own methods/experiences that can be passed to others, and it gives folks with a common interest and passion to meet and unwind.

Yup, and cutting out all the "fluff" allows for more information and application :dblthumb2:

^^^ Exactly ^^^

I think this is going to turn out to be a pretty awesome day (or weekend, for those like myself who are heading up Saturday).

Quick update: Per Dave's advice, I have been trying my best to avoid spending too much money ahead of our get-together. Dave said he has plenty of towels and product to use, and I know a lot of folks are bringing stuff too.

That said, I never like showing up to a party empty-handed. :)

I've ordered a bunch of microfiber towels (cheap but effective ones) and some terry towels. Also picked up some towels specifically for my wheels. And of course, I grabbed some microfiber cleaner.

As far as product goes, I'm keeping it to a minimum.

  • Diamondite Glass Kit
  • CarPro IronX
  • Optimum Power Clean
  • Collinite 845
  • Wolfgang Gloss Paint Sealant

I'm sure there'll be lots of little gems product wise coming along with the attendees. This is the part I like, seeing various detailers share their passion and favorite techniques into different products.

When people believe in something, they tend to share the knowledge on it.

I'd suspect a lot of the people who will come to this event will have nearly perfected paint finishes already. I have at least 20 vehicles on the lot that could use some real attention in that area. Having said that, there will be plenty of swirls, scuffs and scratches to hone your skills on if you wish to do so.

So what all is contained in the Diamodite Glass Kit? Can you link the product here? This will be something new to me.

Have any of the other members coming used this Diamondite Kit?

This sounds awesome!
I wish I was closer to your area :(

Well my car is not near perfect. :buffing: :( yet

Diamondite® Glasswork System Kit

I have this kit as well, and i've not had a chance to put it to use so this will be great. I can bring it as well if folks would like samples of the polishes.

This will be something interesting to me. My glass could use some help.

I would also be interested in seeing the Diamondite kit in use.

Mike

I've watched a few videos over the years for glass polishing with cerium oxide glass polishes, but have never actually used it. We'll have to sharpen up on the instructions and videos before the event.

As I recall it was Swanicyouth and CEE DOG that had the videos on here.

As per the instructions, it looks like a pretty straight forward proposition. Rotary or drill, I got both so we'll be in business.

Sweet. Should be a lot of fun!

Will be booking the hotel room probably by the end of the week. Once I do that, there is no turning back. :)

With all the Spring Sales going on, I did grab a few additional items for the day. Applicator pads, brushes, etc. I also grabbed a small steamer and portable vacuum, both on sale, as my wife's car is going to need some serious upholstery and carpet cleaning.

If any one of you are planning to stay Sat. night, and want split a room let me know. (insert creepy music/craigslist creep vibe here)

Ill be there around 7pm...Candycane?!?...

Hey Dave

maybe we can get a list of what people are bringing, and kind of use it also as a testing day. Im sure some of us all have diff. products (dimondite) I just scored a LGM, and MC1275. Ive been using 1z glanz wax and love it.

maybe Son1c can bring some teasers!!
