Auto Detailing Day at Tuscarora Dave's (South Central PA)

So all this talk about my exterior, I forgot to post these pics of the driver's seat. Obviously the previous owner did not take very good care of the leather. What do y'all think I can do about these wrinkles?

I was planning on doing some steam cleaning with my McCulloch 1275, maybe also hitting it with the Wolfgang leather cleaner and working it in with a brush. Any other tips?

That's just part of owning leather on an aging car. Honestly doesn't look too bad to me from the photos. Throw enough money at anything and it can be fixed/replaced.

I'll show you a good technique for cleaning down inside those wrinkles nicely, then we'll apply some of the Wolfgang Cockpit Interior Trim Sealant that Tim sent us and see what that looks like.

That would be a good starting point.

As expected, there were a few cancellations due to conflicting schedules. Here's the most current line up of attendees.

Sounds good.

As you predicted, now every time I look at a car belonging to a friend or family member, the inner monologue starts: "Wow, this thing needs a good detailing. Wonder if they'll let me hit that with some OPC." :)

No kidding.... just pointed out all the swirls on my sister's new Mustang and told her she needs to drop it off for the weekend.

I can't go to this event now. Was told this morning that inhave to be in Houston on Monday and my office scheduled me to be there this Saturday.

Ed:cry:

Dalton was just here and picked up my Rupes 15 and mini. I will be bring the coating along with me on Sunday.

Will there be some pads there that we can use, or should we be bringing out own. I did put a few pads in the box with the mini, however I did not give him any pads with the 15?

It wouldn't be a bad idea to bring pads with you. Especially if you have specific pads you really like working with. The more the merrier!

Also Dave mentioned he'd like to see other cars being worked on outside the shop while the Mustang is being worked on in the garage. So if we have enough polishers and pads to go around it'll make the effort go that much smoother.

Really cool of you to bring the Rupes. Thanks man.

Been doing my best to keep the Mustang clean as possible ahead of this weekend. The weather has warmed up really nicely this week so I've been hitting it with waterless wash whenever I can.

The weather for Saturday and Sunday looks awesome! Hope I didn't just jinx it.

AAwww Mannn!!! That's too bad, I was really looking forward to meeting you finally Ed. We'll see how this event goes, perhaps there will be another.

Are you planning to go the the Poorboy's World Detailing Weekend this year? If so, we might just cross paths there. Last year Pockets was nice enough to send me a personal invitation to come back up to their detailing festival. That's a good time if anyone's been on the fence about going.

I have a good number of 5 1/4" LC Ultrafiber pads, a few 5.5" foam finishing pads, some Poorboy's World 5.5" variable contact light cutting and finishing pads, plus a ton of wool pads and a whole trunk full of rarely used pads of varying fit and manufacture.

Thanks again for offering up the use of your Rupes machines for our event.

All still looks good here. Looks like a few showers passing through today to be cleared out by 10pm this evening. This should help with cleaning off the lot a little before the event.

I loaded up the fridge with bottled water last night to be sure it'll be nice and cold for this weekend, got the all Kosher Beef Hebrew National Dogs and Hot Dog rolls + condiments, plates, bowls, forks, paper towels etc. Sister is on the other sides..ie..mac. salad, potato salad etc.

All is good!!

I spoke to a nice man on the phone last night who lives one town over from MightyPudge. He said he's been a lurker at Autogeekonline for about 3 years now. He called to see if the event was full, and if he could come out and join us. We talked for a little while, he said he's read every single post in this thread, so he knows what's going on and how to get here. Hopefully he can make it to the event.

He said he's got a Ford E-Series van that he'd be more than willing to offer up to the products testing sacrifice, if anyone wants to practice on it. He said he doesn't care how it turns out, nor is he looking to get a free detail out of the deal. It was nice of him to offer up some practice real estate. I told him we'll wing it and see how it goes.

I'll be bringing a bunch of pads also along with a bunch of product. I'm really excited to be able to try the flex and rupes machines and finally make a decision on my next polisher!

I'm interested in different pads as well. I need to buy new ones and this would be good before I make the purchase.

Dave, again, if you need me to bring anything food related just let me know.

And FYI- I won't be helping wash any vehicles Sunday (not sure if that would be happening anyway)... a little ill-planning on my part and I just got some fresh ink, so no water saturation for a week for my arm.

No excuses. Any washing done will be waterless or rinseless. :D

All packed up. Just have to do a quick load of MF's.
