Paint names and codes

Hey guys I was wondering if you could let me know where I'd be able to find paint names and paint codes. I tried looking at the door cards of some vehicles but I couldn't understand them so instead I got the vin number. Could I just called the dealership of the specific vehicle and give them the Vin and they give me the code or is there a website that can do that for me?

Any info would be greatly appreciated thank you in advance.

Yes, I believe the paint code is in the vin of newer vehicles. Call a dealer and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

look on the drivers side door jam it should be there, and there are a couple of websites will tell you color code

Unless things have changed, GM vehicles have their paint code (at the bottom) on the RPO sticker in the glove box.

This. I think some may have it on a lable under the hood too, but I've always found it in the door jam on the lable with the VIN and the build date. I think its typically a four digit code.

The codes have to be cross referenced if im not mistaken. If its not on the drivers door sticker some times it will be under the hood. The dealer can give you the paint code with the VIN.
