Wheel well

Mike, fortunately my Sequoia has lots of room between the tire and wheel well, so I can be even lazier in cleaning the wheel well. Not so fortunate with my lowered Cobra.

Cost vs. Long Term Appearance

In my opinion, if you are not willing to completely clean/detail your wheel wells; you will be happiest with a product like Griot's Undercarriage Spray.

-It darkens and hides dirt.

-Seems to hold onto dust kicked up from the road.

-Smell is strong chemical.

-Does not last more than a week.

-Does not seem to increase the wheel wells ability to shed dirt when hosed or power washed off.

-$15.99 for 35oz = $.46 per ounce

If you are willing to clean the wheel wells thoroughly, I suggest Sonus Motor Kote

-Does darken plastic wheel well liners, but is less effective on metal parts of the suspension

-Seems to repel road dust

-No strong chemical smell

-Follow the directions and it will last weeks

-Does seem to allow the wheel wells to be power washed clean

-$9.99 for 16.9oz = $.59 per ounce

If you are willing to spend more and go the extra step in the initial cleaning and do an IPA wipedown, CarPro DLUX is the best option

-Darkens plastics

-Lasts over a month

-Repels dust and dirt

-Allows wheel wells to pressure washed or even hosed clean

-No lasting smell

-Expensive $39.99 for 30ml. I estimate you could do 10 cars with 30ml

megs hyper dressing diluted 1:3 (1 part product to 3 parts water) and one gallon will last you forever...

I went with the Mequiar and the 3:1 ratio has been working out for me and I know I will get a lot of product from this gallon.

Again thanks for the suggestions.

I use silk shine by CG. Its water based and doesn't get all caked up. Its cheap and Most times I spray and don't have to wipe. The shine lasts a good while too. I can't get hyper dressing here in Hawaii but I would probably love that stuff.

Pro Tip: Silk Shine is VRP at 1:1 dilution :xyxthumbs:

glad it worked out for you, the only place i care to use HD is for the wells and engine bay. don't care for it on tires...

Bare Bones is one of the worst CG products. It doesn't last very long and is basically only good for a few days. Their Blue Guard II on the other hand, is a pretty good product.

I'll probably go the HyperDressing route when my Blue Guard is used up.

I have had really good luck with bare bones and it has held up pretty well and looks great and I love the grape sent. Sorry your results were less than satisfactory. I have a bottle of blue guard II i will try it out.
