karma for those who tailgate *video*

^ Have you guys seen the biker girl from Ride Along, with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart lol

I posted this the other day and I'll post it again.
A sayin I live by:
Don't let your procrastination be my emergency.
Here where I live there are a lot of small 4 lane roads, 2 in each direction. People are always rushing and zoom past me going 10+ above the speed limit( I know because if I'm doing the limit and you pass me like I'm standing still that's at least 10 probably more) anyway a lot Of times there are big rigs on the right and if I move over I'll get stuck behind them, so I stay on the left. Technically I'm passing, even if it takes me a minute. As soon as I can, I try and move over but if I'm going the limit and I know I'll get slowed down in the right lane I stay in my spot. It's not my fault you didn't leave on time. It's not my fault your in a rush. People are always rushing, and for what? I don't mind if I'm behind someone slow, you don't know what's going on with them. If your in a rush that's your fault not mine. Don't make your procrastination my emergency.

^ That's a nice saying rolop6.

I don't know how accurate this is, but I follow it because it won't hurt me to, plus tickets are always expensive.

Back in HS a friend told me if your running late and you start speeding on the fwy passed the speed limit. You only get there 5 minutes faster. (Give or take) That's if you don't get in an accident or get pulled over and get a speeding ticket which both will only delay you more.

I've gotten a few speeding tickets for going 75 on a 65. With pretty much going with traffic. That was always frustrating.

Now I just turn on cruise control at 65-68 mph. Getting a ticket is never cheap or fun. So I always play it safe.

Most of us at one time or another find the actions of other drivers annoying. It is not your job as a vehicle operator to enforce the traffic laws. If someone is behind you too close then move over. Not only is it the safe thing to do it is the polite thing to do for your fellow drivers. Haven't we all seen the slower traffic move right signs?

I find it interesting that the videographer traveled well over a minute at over 50 MPH meaning she went more than a mile before the other driver crashed. Didn't she needed to turn in 1/2 a mile?

It seems to me some of you are missing an important point. Driving a car/truck is one of the MOST dangerous things we do on a daily basis. The driver of that truck could have easily been killed had he rolled or hit a pole. His large truck could have crossed into oncoming traffic and killed a family. I guess I'm saying the petty argument of who is right or wrong really shouldn't replace common courtesy and civility.

No keep right signs in Oklahoma... as I said earlier it isn't illegal here unless on a turnpike and even then I've never seen it enforced

It doesn't look like he was following that close. In Oklahoma driving in the left lane is perfectly legal no matter of your speed as long as you are above the minimums and below the maximums.

The only exception is on the turnpikes where you are suppose to use the left lane for passing only.

My point wasn't about the legality of driving in the left lane. It was about dangerous behavior leading to an accident. I would think you can drive in the left lane legally below the limit in most places. Doing so leads to less than desirable traffic maneuvers such as passing on the right. I try to maintain awareness both in front and behind me while driving. When someone is traveling faster I just MOVE over.

:iagree: well said

Saw the lady on the news this morning as well as the driver of the truck. He was charged with leaving the seen and no seat belt.

I don't know if anyone else noticed or not, but what in the hell is wrong with this woman?
In the video when the guy first tries to pass she accelerates blocking his path.
That is such a dangerous and stupid thing to do.

I'm not taking sides because they are clearly both complete morons, she is being overly aggressive by insisting on staying the left lane and it is obvious how the guy is being way too aggressive.

People like these cause accidents all the time and should be taken off the road. Driving is not a right but a privilege.

The guy was not necessarily tailgating but rather coming up close to indicate his intention to drive faster in which case most people driving slowly in the left lane will merge right to allow for traffic to flow.

I drive all over the us and every state I have been in has signs posted stating slower traffic keep right.

On a highway like that it is not always a good idea to pass from the right because people on the right are slowing down to make their turns. Notice the flatbed truck staying in the right lane because they are driving slower than traffic.

Just my two cents.

The left lane is for passing, plain and simple. Its the law in most if not every state. It also suggests you may only attempt to pass when the road is clear and safe to do so. You are also suppose to use signals to notify others.

Its obvious they both need to learn more care in driving and its not a race to the finish. You need to drive with respect and care for not only yourself but others. With some respect from each other, this would not have happened.

I think the streets would be a better place if we all just minded to our own business. If someone wants to pass me I don't speed up. If someone wants to tailgate I don't slow down. If I don't like them there I put on my right turn signal then slow down and move to the right. I know I've been in a hurry before so I try not to judge them. I try to look way down the road when I'm in a hurry and usually there's no end to the line of cars so I take a deep breath and enjoy the view while leisurely following the never ending line of cars until it breaks into an extra lane at which time everyone speeds up because there's no way to slow everyone down with multiple lanes. The lady in the film is obviously a jerk because she filmed it. That tells me she was screwing around attempting to ignite that rage. I think it would have been funnier if he pulled out his gun instead of his finger and watch her reaction before he trashed his truck. (No I don't advocate guns) Notice she laughed instead of checking on how he was doing. Aren't videos great! It's time people woke up and realize there's a camera on you most of your life in this day and age. I'm sure he's humbled about now. Is filming and driving anything like texting and driving?

They both need to swap their drivers license for a bus pass.

I believe MOST STATE LAWS, state KEEP RIGHT UNLESS PASSING/TURNING, Also EMERGENCY VEHICLE need access to PASSING LANE

So we are all guy guys. (Girls too)

So what do you guys think caused him to spin out? The road was wet too.

Try as you may but you can't outlaw stupid..... :dunno:

In the immortal words of Forrest Gump "Stupid is as STUPID does! "

I think that's a chick. I think?

Oh that is WAAAAAAY more than *just* a "chick". That is a man-ly chick!

He probably used armor all on his tires.

Now it's all coming together!

But seriously; Both were in the wrong at one point or another. I seriously doubt however that the female was going too slow. I didn't listen to the audio, but she did show her speed to be right at 60 and I doubt on a divided highway like that with red lights and broken medians that the speed was more than 55. I've had people follow me MUCH closer than that and lived to tell the tale, so not sure why she was so beside herself.

OTOH I happened up behind a Camaro one day in the fast lane of I285, me driving a rollback with cars on the back, he was doing about 55m (in a 65). His seat was laid back, and looked like his girlfriend was doing push-ups, (or neck exercises) crossways in the car. That fool came to an exit and whipped it across FIVE LANES (counting the exit lane), almost clipping the bottom of the median and the sign at the exit ramp!!!!!!!!!!!! I remember thinking to myself, "Dude, it's only 63 miles back around if you just circle Atlanta, why are you in such a hurry". :p :D

The truck otoh was being a moron. If he could have gone around her on the right, why not just take your hurrying self over there and blast on around her? Instead he keeps riding up behind her, then beside, then decides to cut her off, AT AN INTERSECTION none the less!

As long as you're doing the speed limit in the left lane you have no obligation to move over on uncontrolled access highways (like that one). You may be turning left (or right) at the next intersection, who knows. Here in Georgia they were talking this year about trying to make it a law on an Interstate Highway if you are in the left lane and someone comes up behind you that you have to move over, but we all know how well that'll get enforced. :dunno:

The rest as we see, is history.
