Best once a year wax?

Damn, Rsurfer beat me to the NuFinish reference.

I wax more often just because I enjoy it. Mine always brass so I can't tell when one quits and the other starts

I should have provided what type of vehicle I only wanted to do once a year. It is a Ford Expedition Extended Version. I enjoy working on my sports car, but the Ford takes aaaaalot of time!!

2 coats of collinite 845, let it cure, then another 2 coats with collinite 476. lasted me a whole year on my Subaru daily driving in new england!

Knowing that, I would agree with those that recommend a coating. If not the full vehicle, at least the roof, which is rarely seen and just a pain to deal with.

Duragloss 105 followed with Aqua wax every month.

As usual, DG has some sleepers in the field.

Last October 27, I did a coat of DG 105/601, topped by Collinite 476 on my winter DD. Once a month it gets DG Aquawax as a drying aid. Parked outside 24/7 thru the nastiest winter we've had in PA in a long, long time, it's still going strong as we head into month #6. I'll never find out if it would last for an entire year, but I can testify that six months is no problem whatsoever.

Klasse sealant and Meguiars synthethic Qd. THis way you can maintain with synthetic on synthetic keeping it synthetic and durable.

I would say use a rinseless or waterless wash with wax/sealant on a regular basis after you wax/seal with the product of your choice (AIO) and maybe even use a spray wax as a drying agent if you do a regular wash and it should stay protected all year. I'm a newb but have found that keeping my paint slick with spray wax or waterless wash makes it easy and quick to wash no matter what method I use. At the same time I am spending less time while cleaning my car I am also keeping it protected.

I spend less time cleaning and protecting my car doing weekly rinseless than I did before washing once a month the old fashioned/uneducated way except now I am also protecting the paint and not stripping it.

OP I hope you realized they are all joking about NuFinish. That said like many others have said I doubt you will find a sealant or wax that will last a full year on a DD. I have personally found though that when my Sonax PNS died that using Sonax BSD as a drying aid has lasted me up to 3 weeks in between washes on my DD and still beads and sheets nicely at wash time. I don't drive a ton of miles though but it is outside 100% of the time.

The best once a year wax is the coating of your choice. No wax or sealant will last a year - at least where I live.

:iagree:

I do little detailing anymore.

Been turning work away already this year, as I have little time for it with my other efforts bearing fruit. When I do, I intend on having one of the new 2 year coatings on hand as a "once a year wax". 99% of "them" don't care to know the difference so long as it's clean and shiny.

Griot's garage paint sealant seems to be very durable, not sure if i'd go so far as to say it'll last a whole year but very durable none the less. Also, either of meguiar's paint sealants - M20 or M21 have excellent durability as well, its what i mainly used before giving the griot's a try.
