2012 Volkswagen Passat - Paint Correction Detail by Mr. Sparkle Detailing - Long Island, NY

Wow - this makes me very nervous to use my new nano skin wash mitt. I have never seen that much marring from the "claying" process.

Has anyone experienced very little or no marring when using the fine grade wash mitt?

I always do a test spot to see if the Nanoskin induces marring. Like Tato has stated you can get very little to no marring using Nanoskin if you use an adequate amount of lube and proper technique (straight line motion and little to no downward pressure). The main problem with Nanoskin is that the contaminants have no where to go once they are removed so they stay between your Nanoskin and the paint. In this case the vehicle was likely heavily contaminated and there is no amount of lube or technique that would have prevented marring.

I save my Nanoskin for correction details only now.

When I first got my Speedy Prep towel medium grade I experienced little to no marrying even on dark color cars. As it got used more often it will start marring the paint more.

So it sounds like if your vehicle is already in good shape, avoid a scrubbing motion and if you rinse your mitt often during the process, you can avoid a lot of issues?

You said vw so I had to look, great work awesome 50/50 shot, that black paint now pops!! And the de-badged rear now looks great!

Thanks for bringing this up again. At beginning of this thread I suggested more lube and less pressure on nanoskin towards less marring, however (and please), forget about that.

I'm totally with you, no amount of lube or technique will avoid bad marring with nanoskin when it is 'written' to happen.

Look what I got, like I'm very wise guy (Im the MAN), using my BEST anti-marring approach and few passes of nanoskin (same kind of thrashed black car):

OUCH! ahhah

Nowadays I read my first post and I must apologize to OP since it looks a bit 'arrogance' the way I wrote when trying to suggest more lube to nanoskin. However, face it like it is, just a comment (or unhappy comment? ahhah).

Glide, don't scrub as I say. Looks ugly, but goes out easily.

This is what happens when amateurs (like me) give suggestions to such an artist and competent detailer like Gurge.

Hope all this keeps the friendly mood, sorry for that.

Best Wishes, and again, congratulations on this amazing work.
