DA Polisher Trouble Shooting Guide
This one helps you to use your eyes to make sure you're not just spinning your wheels...
Here's a quick video that show how and why to mark your backing plate to see and monitor pad rotation while doing any correction or polishing steps.
It's also important to maintain pad rotation with PC style tools when using a one-step cleaner/wax or AIO type product on neglected paint.
It's not vital to maintain pad rotating when applying a finishing wax or finishing paint sealant to a finish that you've just buffed out.
Note: Finishing Waxes and Finishing Paint Sealants would be of the type that don't offer any cleaning or abrading ability.
If you were moving the polisher quickly over the paint at all... then going over it again with the compound and this time move the polisher slowly and only work a section about 18" square, not 2' x 2' like every website recommends. That's too big for a PC when removing dead, oxidized paint.
Be on the 6 speed setting. Hope you have 5.5" THIN pads as these will work much better than 6.5" thick pads.

Also, overlap a little into the previous section when starting a new section.
And definitely apply and work a heavy application of the #7 Show Car Glaze. This product has been around since the time of the Model T formula unchanged. No other product I know of can make that claim.
The oils in this polish bring out the full richness of color. That's what you want for old single stage paints. Does other things too...
My guess is by now you have a tatty looking yellow CCS pad? If so, take the same pad and compound and hit all the chrome. I share this tip in this thread as that's how I tackled the chrome on this old

I watched a ton of your videos after I got the DA, first thing I did was use a marker to make a line on the backing plate, haha. As to the rest of the advice, I followed it pretty much except for the #7. I had alot of polish left over, so I figured I would use it, and when I run out get the #7, when and if I do list it, I will go at it again with the #7.
good tip on the chrome, that is basically the last thing I have to do. I am planning on driving the car tomorrow to work, I will get some photos.

its pretty original, but not numbers matching.
It has the original 327, a muncie that is a few years later, I think it was late 60s, but other than that its pretty complete.

Thanks for the info. I would really like to get the Chevelle. That was my first car in high school. If that doesn't pan out I may go this way. It's a month or two away before I do anything...you may not even have the car then???

Truth be told, I think the 70 Chevelle is maybe the best looking Chevy of the late 60s and 70s.
There was a red with black stripes 70 Chevelle SS here in El Paso a while ago (maybe 2002), 396 with a 4 speed, it was amazing, the guy wanted 15k. I wanted that car so bad

The Rock is from my old neighborhood in Davie, FL. but never considered him as a car guy.His Dad still lives there.Maybe the Rock is a closet car lover.I came out of the closet around 10 years old.(Cars that is.)

Wow, small world, thats pretty cool. Also I laughed pretty hard about the Car Closet.
Anyways back to topic. I drove the Impala to work today. Ran great, I have a little vibration at around 60-65, Im thinking its either one of the rear tires or a u-joint
