curious... my arch wires (thin) feels kinda loose now (been over a week since i got the braces on) in my mouth (not enough to where they want to pop out), is this normal? is it expected to slowly/gradually move the teeth without moving too fast?
p.s. i have been pretty careful about how i eat and haven't really been eating anything hard...
Yup, that is normal. Also, it is a good sign because your teeth are moving and just need to get the wires tightened again.
Have you felt, or are you able to feel the ends of the wire poking your cheek? That's a sign your teeth are shifting as well.
Your teeth move slow, very slowly. That's the longest part of the process.
not just yet, but then again it's been a week or so. one side was poking me but it's on and off. one thing is they are very sensitive when i eat and i've already lost 5 lbs...
You should mention this to your orthodontist next time. Its not typical to be sensitive when you eat. For the most part, your diet doesnt need to change that drastically.
will do, i appreciate the recommendation... :xyxthumbs:
p.s. IIRC, when he put my braces he said he wanted to take it nice and slow and not rush. for some odd reason my next appointment isn't until the last week of may, i'm surprised they are making wait more than 8 weeks to my next visit.![]()
That is strange. It should be every 5 weeks you have them adjusted/tightened. Maybe each orthodontist is different but 8 weeks seems too long.
i agree. don't know if i should call because i don't want to step on any toes since they are the professional if you know what i mean...
You're the paying customer. If you don't feel right about something, say it. I think it would be good to wait until the next appointment and discuss it then. Just mention you were under the impression you should see him every 5, and ask why he thinks 8 is better.
