Was polishing with white lake country pad today and m205 seemed to help the scratch i was working on but looked like there were lots of fine scratches after a few passes ??? Did i do something wrong is it possible to scratch paint with pc7424 xp ...... also anyone in NC willing to help me with learing to compound and polish correctly

The fine scratching is not caused be the polishing unless it is haze or halos. Most likely you are wiping off too hard or not using a clean towel

I'm thinking either those fine scratches were already there or you didn't prime the pad enough prior to starting

Perhaps the paint is soft. Try a lighter pad(s). Dial in on a good combo.

Which tipe of lake country pad did you use? and what car is it?

Try 2-3 more section pass, does it actually reduce the amounts of light swirls/scratches?

Post photo if possible, guys here would know if they are just light scratchs, RIDS, haze, marring, etc... and from there we can help you better.
 
1. Dirty pad, too much caked up product.
2. Dirty or not soft enough microfiber. On super soft clears microfiber quality matters a lot.
3. Need less pressure/speed when doing passes. Don't know of much paint that white/205 won't finish well on so doubt you need to step down pad aggressiveness.

Sometimes when you are trying to work out a scratch without an aggressive enough product/pad combo you will try and "bear down" on it hoping that you can correct it with the step you are doing. Noble enough to attempt but usually doesn't work and on soft paints will produce some light marring.
 
Sounds like what i may have done along with cheap microfibers on honda paint
