Quick question..

Surprisingly I'm having a hard time correcting the paint on an 06 sti black pearl. I've tried rupes pads and fg 400, rupes pad and m105 Adams MF pad and correcting polish and still no good results. I feel like the paint isn't absorbing the compound or polish?
 
Did you try wool pad? Maybe a rotary is needed. How many section passes are you doing?

What do you mean by "no good results"? Marring still there, hazing? Are you using a Rupes polisher?
 
I'm surprised you are not getting good results with using a Rupes. So is this detail a one step?
 
What type of machine are you using?

What specific polish are you using and what grit is it rated at (1200, 1500, 1800...)?

A mf pad on a DA and an aggressive polish should correct most defects.

Marring hazing swirls still.. Yes rupes 21

Yeah I've done a ton of corrections on this car just not this color, and no it's a 2 step

I said I was using m105, Adams, and fg 400
 
^^ In that case do as best you can with the 1st step, and follow that up with the second and see.. sometimes the paint is just in too bad of shape to achieve a 100% correction.

Didn't want to but busted out the rotary and it's coming out great now. Thanks guys!

The paint is very soft and doesn't like to be messed with I guess is the best way to put it

sti has soft paint i believe, 205 with mf finishing pad should work

I did use m205 but on a foam pad

OK...
So whether the paint is absorbing compounds or polishes,
or not...Had nothing to do with it. Correct?
