Wax is more than Protection, IMO.

One things for sure, can't go wrong with Duragloss or Collinite products, period!

I totally understand that it's the prep that brings the pop, and my cars have always looked fantastic after a good polish. However, they always look even better after the wax. Always.

There's this camp that almost dismisses wax; saying it's for protection only. Why, then, would there be $100+ waxes if a bottle $18 Insulator Wax is all we really need? Why do I see differences between Pete's 53 and Gold Class when doing half-n-halfs if all the wax is doing is "adding protection"? Even comparably priced waxes, in the same market, are said to "look" different.

I have my theories, but would like to hear yours! :xyxthumbs:

You need to prep a car then do the 50/50 test to see if wax really means anything.

I have never been able to tell the difference between the look of waxes and feel that anything over 25 is a rip-off

There a great expensive waxes and great cheap waxes. The thing I think is nonsense, is when people just dismiss something they see as expensive as a "rip off"; or that it's exactly the same as their $20 LSP.

I've tried expensive LSPs I didn't like (Black Ice, Lava) and some expensive ones that are awesome (Souverän, Fuzion, NaviWax Ultimate, etc..).

What I hate, is when people say something is a "rip off" without trying it.

I would love to do business with you.

I will never apply a wax again, no matter what it "looks" like. Wax draws and hold every damn bit of dust and dirt that comes near it...which is completely counter productive to maintaining paint (I want dust and dirt and water to shed right off the paint, not be stuck to it only to air dry in a mess). Don't believe it...put on a good coating on one side of your hood, and wax on the other...and leave the car in the rain to air dry afterwards.

When I used to use wax, my car looked worse after a rain (when allowed to dry) than cars that had no wax on them at all. My newly waxed car looked like crap after every rain. Yeah, everybody loves those beading shots of wax (holding all those bubbles of filthy, dirt laden crud). I don't want my paint to bead..I want the water to rush right off it, and boy when a coating is put on correctly, the car practically washes itself after a rain or even driving in it. NOTHING..I mean NOTHING is so cool as to have a beautifully coated car that when it rains...you smile and say to yourself...cool, have at it and save me the bother of washing you again.

Excellent silverfox! I have often thought, why do I want thousands of magnifying lenses all over my paint that sit there and refuse to budge while I finish my shift with 7 hours left before I can "drive off" them beads?

'cause I like wax! (?)
