Help!!!

It's nice to have read this from the beginning to the end and I'm glad to see everyone chimed in on how to easily correct this mishap.... Im the MAN

I don't think you can find a more helpful, knowledgeable group of members anywhere! :props:

Autogeek, why go elsewhere? :cruisin:

LOL I love how everyone is like DIVORCE!

Ok, so I clayed the car, M205 over the entire thing, and now I am letting SON1C's ProtoWax 93 cure while I go out for a well-deserved dinner and drinks :dblthumb2:

You should have your husband buy you a CarCapsule to prevent further stupidity.
On the other hand I can't say that I have never done anything like this before.

By yourself, right? ;) Hopefully you are making your husband pay.

Nah, he took me.
Since the car is fine I'm over it. I did make him promise to never let this happen again. I'm pretty sure he got how angry I was :bash:

Glad you got it looking good again!

I realize you're done for now, but in the future, you want to use Iron-X before you clay. This will dissolve the iron contaminants first. If you clay first, not only will you be making the clay work harder and pick up things that the Iron-X would have removed, you run the risk of picking up those iron contaminants and rubbing them over your paint.

I still would have made him clay it...

I forgot to post this last night:

That was literally a 2x2 section on my fender as soon as I started

I still intend to do a full detail in a few weeks, so I will be repeating these processes as well as added a bunch I just didn't have time to do.

I will make sure when I do to use the IronX first before reclaying.

Oh! And my latest AG order showed up later in the evening... would have been nice to have had that Nanoskin mitt

Glad you got it all straightened out. Sorry to hear it was your car that was the subject of practice, but... That's good detailing experience under your belt now. Glad you're so forgiving.

Ha! Dave, you almost got a panicked call

Yes, it was good experience. I put some things into practice I learned the other weekend at your place. My polishing skills/techniques are getting better. I actually changed up my Flex. I had a damper handle on it and I tried it without while at your shop and liked the control much better. That was a big help.

Hey, we all make mistakes. I get mad, then get over it.

Holy Smokes that claybar is toast! Are you sure that wasn't a vandalism job?

That's a great attitude to have :props: Some people get mad, stay that way, then become bitter and mean spirited and make life miserable for everyone around them

Somehow, from some of your previous posts--that sounds like you are talking about your wife LOL!

Anything negative I may have implied about my wife was done so in sarcasm. I am a lucky man to have her. At this very moment she is teaching handicap children how to swim. She does this out of the kindness oif her heart. She's not looking for a pat on the back or posting it on Facebook so everyone will think she's a great person like most people would do

Yep, I am a lucky man indeed

:)

Well good news...

I was away this weekend at my moms.

When I returned, the husband told me he did more painting to the Jeep. My fave went white...

BUT!

He heeded my threats and painted outside, with the garage closed! :dblthumb2:

I guess I was pretty scary when I told him to never do that again

LOL- I'm actually taking the morning off tomorrow so I can at least clay the car. I want to get the majority of the overspray off asap.

I can leave it in the garage and take my truck to work until I can finish the other steps.

Funny, my husband is a pretty smart guy... no idea why he had a brain fart on this... and the fact that he said he opened the doors so their WOULDN'T be any overspray leads me to believe he doesn't have a firm grasp of physics

Sorry to hear of this. What I actually want to comment on is the fact you're taking the

morning off work to start claying. TRUE AUTO GEEK! Love it!!!!!!!!! Good luck

I actually ended up leaving work early that day :dblthumb2:
