So after enjoying my e92 m3 for three years I finally sold and picked up a 2012 GTR, and wow what a car it is. Here is the greatest part I forgot to tell the dealer not to detail the car that I would do it at home, the car has 8107 miles on it and the paint was in perfect condition no swirls. Well when I got there the dealer had actually done a perfect job in cleaning it. They didn't not introduce any new scratches the only complaint is they used those greasy engine dressings to dress the engine..is there anyway to remove it?

That's a nice looking car!

On Saturday I walked by a car and on the rear was affixed an emblem stating "Alpha 1000hp" It looked much like your new ride and impressed the heck out of me....

Good luck and have fun! :props:

Congrats! I've only had mine for 2 months now and spent way too much on mods!

Try using a good APC on the engine. I use OPC.

Nice car for sure.

If it was me, I'd use P21S Total Auto Wash on the engine. If you don't have it and want it today, most Harley dealers carry it as S100.

Glad to be apart of the club do you tape anything off before you put the opc. Also since you own one you the carbon piece that is right in front of the engine. Mine has a little white hazing is this normal. I means it black but has a little bit of white haze

Thanks for the tip once again would you tape of everything. Also should I use a foam gun to spray on the engine bay and let it sit then agitate then wash away.

No, I don't tape anything off. I have the OPC diluted 3:1 with distilled water and spray it on the areas I want to clean, then agitate with a small brush, and wipe it off with a microfiber. I've never been a fan of spraying water in the engine bay. Makes me too nervous. lol

My front carbon piece is dull black but no white haze that I can see. Here is a iphone pic of mine I took yesterday:

When I get home I'll post a pic up of the engine bay. I also have never been a fan of water and engine lol

Maybe ONR (Optimum No Rinse) would work well. You could mix it with distilled water, soak a microfiber in it then clean where needed without the need to hose/rinse off the engine bay.

Congratulations it looks amazing thought is it a him/her j/w

If you have a steamer, go that route and keep the steam nozzle 6-10 inches away. It will lightly clean and blow it away so you won't have to worry about saturating any electrical components with water.

I tomorrow I am going to try the simple green route I don't have a steam cleaner right now.

Simple Green can be corrosive on certain aluminum or alloys. It really has no reason to be on a detailer's shelf or near a car - especially one as nice as yours.

Please don't use SG on your GTR.

You can easily clean that engine bay with some paint safe APC and some brushes.

Wow i thought simple green was safe to use. Thank you so much for the advice before I dove in. Any recommendation for an opc

Quite a few good apc's out there I would lean towards Optimum Power Clean or Meguiars d101. Very good cost effective apc's. If money is no object (don't know who that really qualifies for nowadays) could use p21s taw.

I actually got the eco touch apc the price was perfect and I read some great reviews on it. I'll post my own review once I've tried it out.
