Just for everyone: Make sure that the bulb you get is a SINGLE DIODE bulb. I could only find a PAR38 5000k single diode (the one that Zach linked) at Lowes (Utilitech). The ones at Home Depot are multi-diode.

Are LED's living up to the durability claims? I have seen more early life failures with CFL's than incandescent.

Very cool! I've been wanting to DIY a set up like this. But I swear every time I'm in HD or Lowes the LED are always a few $ less then before!
I was wondering the same thing Al. With the extremely high initial cost and questionable durability I might forgo my build....I'll have to research this a bit...
