Compound ?s for hard clear

Ok I have a 2007 corvette and I hear it has hard clear.
I have used HF polisher with 5.5" pads
Ive used mf cutting pads by Meg and CG
As well as foam cutting pads
The compounds and polish I have tried is all CG v line v34/36/38

I have tried all the tips about small work areas, .slow arm speed, clean pads, the results look better but I dont seem to be getting enough cut/correction

Do I need a more aggressive setup??

Should I look into the surbuf pads? Or look into a better compound/polish like menzerna?

I would give m105 a try or menzerna fg400. I prefer menz fg400, but you can get m105 at your local auto parts store.

If it looks better hit it again with M105 and then again if need be. I personally like to see improvement and use it as a gauge to stay "the least aggressive" as possible. Far too often we are tempted to reach for something that gets it all and NOW which may be more aggressive than you need to level the paint to just the right point. Maybe a wool pad if you haven't tried that.

If your results were minimal i would consider stepping it up but if it's say 50-60% better, i like to stick with it and get the remaining with the same approach.

(whoops...i misunderstood that you were already using M105. That's my go to product and vary the pad choice at times).

It looks better in the area that I spent an hour on (1/3 of hatch) not much area at all. I originally polished with a light polish and use blacklight and it looked good but I think I just filled in everything as it soon started looking like before the blacklight

Should I try
FG 400
Or the
SI 1500? (1 review even said this was perfect on his corvette hard clear)
I've read tons of great stuff on Menzerna. I wish I hadn't bought all 3 of the CG polishes :-(. They did work good on a honda recently though

Always try to do the "Test Spot"...along with keeping
the "least aggressive first" processes in mind.

Ha,
that chart caused the confusion to start with.

I would have to buy one as I don't have any. Can't buy several more just to try. :-( so I was looking for opinions on them. I see that fg400 is pretty aggressive and the corvette is my personal car so I want to get something to get it back to newish paint condition. I bought it used and has plenty of defects

I use both with great results on all corvettes I do to include my own 2008. White polishing pad for most sometimes orange pad. Only once have I usef the yellow componding pad but with great results. I always followed with sf4500 to top it off.

^about the v line

I was hoping that was the case and not that I sucked at polishing :-)
I will try some Menzerna when I make my next order

I'm going to recommend meguiar's MF cutting pads with D300.

I have MF cutting pads.
Will be getting a new compound soon to try
Suggested so far
Men 400
Hd cut
D300

Leaning towards Menzerna at the moment. Haven't seen any bad reviews of any of their stuff

Im running into the same problem correcting my Wife's Volt. I need to compound it twice to remove all the swirls. Even Uber Compound and MF pads cant do it in one.

For really hard paint try Meguiar's M100 Pro Speed or M101 Foam Cut but be careful. Per Bob's excellent advice try some much less aggressive polishes first, these should be your last resort.

M101 with foam pads and M100 with wool pads on rotary buffers.

I'd say the M101 is more versatile for what the OP is trying to do. Can't go wrong with the Uber compound either.

Corvettes do have hard clears but as long as you're using good abrasive technology, good pads the right tool and good technique you can de-swirl one with no problems.

I've removed swirls out of Corvettes of that era using only Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover with a LC foam cutting pad on a PC.

It's a LOT faster to use a rotary buffer to remove the swirls and flatten out the paint and then come back with an DA to remove the holograms. After that coat it, wax it or seal her up.

I worked on an 06' Corvette a few months back and had great success.
Used my PC, Lake County. 5.5" pad along with the Wolfgang Uber Compound.
It gets the job done well and rather fast.
The ending results were outstanding.

These are the pic I was trying to load in our pm mrssages. I used mezernas FG400 and the lc cutting pad followed by the sf4500 with a lc polishing pad. It worked well for me. The pics of the C5 nose are from a clients car who used a green scrub pad to remove bugs. I had to use a compounding pad for this because the cutting pad did not yield the results I wanted. I eventually work back through the other pad. This yielded great results as well. I also used wg uber compound and total swirl remover with great results as well. The pics of the red C5 are with WG uber compound.
