Finished the job and your thoughts on this matter.

How does the D151 perform on dark colors? Is it you go to AIO? Just thinking of getting some for knocking out some family members cars that aren't concerned with full correction.

So any thoughts on this? being creative is something that I am good at, and pun somewhat intended lol :D but I am artsy haha

I am thinking of including a "Thank You" wording design too...

Nice turn around Art! :dblthumb2:

Good choice on the new glug glug of Megs too. ;)

Thank you Tony, I've used D151 before and love it. Unfortunately I didn't have any for the last minute detail so went with HD Speed. While HD Speed worked great. I like sticking to Meguiar's products especially because you get a large bang for the buck.

I think the only thing now that I am not solely using that is Meguiar's (chemical wise) is Opti Coat and FG400. I do have other products and use them if needed, but for the most part if Meguiar's works than that's why I stick too. :props:

oh and Folex lol

This is the darkest color i've tried D151, but I imagine it would do a great job on black paint too. It doesn't necessarily correct the paint (maybe just very minor swirls/hazing) however, it does a great job on enhancing the gloss of the paint, plus you don't have to wax after (time and product saver)

and a lot of people, like the saying goes about swirls and squirrel. So D151 takes care of that nicely, I haven't done that much use with it but from what I've seen first hand it does a great job on enhancing gloss to the paint.

So question for you all that would be kind enough to help me out with a possible upcoming job.

If the car was swirled out (all around) I know a compound, polish, final polish then wax would be better, but I am trying to match the job to what the customer's price range is.

So question is:
Would it be possible to do a correction with: (drum roll) lol

FG400 (I am thinking TufBuf Wool Pad)
followed by D151 (white polishing pad, if I need something stronger than orange medium cut pad)

So what I am asking is since FG400 finishes out so nicely almost to a polished finish.

Could I follow it up with D151 and skip a step and just polish and wax at the same time?

seems like it could work, I'll head down to my Detail Laboratory later and test it out. Just wanted to here some ideas before I proceed :D

I don't see why not, given the pics of D151 above. I have never used FG400 so no first hand on the way it finishes. The only true answer will be to test it. D151 by description is for saving a step of polish and wax.

Yeah, I will test it just wanted to hear if anyone has tried this combination, but at the same time every paint is different.

Plus at the same time it's an easy color to work with, it's Black lol :D

Well in that case pull a "dealer detail" move and paint on some glaze and call it a day. Why not? It is how they bought the car LOL

lol, I'll be willing to skip a step, in this case polishing, but definitely would let the customer know prior and the reason why I am skipping a step. In this instance it would be so I can try and help them out by charging them a lower price because a full correction is not in their price range. (which is understandable in some cases)

but I would still like to achieve some level of correction and applying a glaze would hide them, but I for some reason rather not go that route. :dunno:

If anything I'll just let them know that if and when they are ready to meet my prices I can help them out.

Lets pretend we are at a bar... if your order a whiskey and the top shelf is to pricey for you and the normal priced whiskey is too,

Well then you might want to consider ordering a whiskey from the well. If that's what you order then that's what you'll get. :D

1. Top Shelf
2. Normal Shelf
3. From the Well

I was joking about the glaze, I would never seriously recommend being shady. That should be a good option. If you do a test and take pics and show them to give them an idea of the correction or "look" they will receive. I'm sure if it is an improvement they will be satisfied

You know Art.... I tried going all Megs compounding and polishing products a couple years ago. (Well I've been mostly all megs for all my life, but speaking of trying to go ONLY with SMAT based products.) ;)

Then I ended up putting Menz 400, 1000, 2000 & 4000 in my bag.

Thing is, it's just impossible to do everything out there with SMAT products. Either that or I'm/we're all getting lazy and just enjoy various DAT stuff here and there. :D

On your other question, the schweet thing about 151 is you can use it with so many different pads. Sort of like having a 1.5 step process (instead of a 2 step). I've used a yellow pad on hard paint with it, then finished down with a white, or even a green CCS and done just fine. Just prime them both, maybe you start with your cutting pad, then finish with your finishing pad? :dunno: Jus' sayin'.... it's worked for me! :) (Even on single stage, el-cheapo faded out red paint.)

For some extra gloss, hit it with Megs 156 or DG951 and you're good to go. :props:

Lol you know it's hard expressing a sense of humor via the web lol. And no worries
:)

Yep that's why I mentioned FG400. I also have 4000 or 4500 lol have to go check but I love the Menz stuff :props:

Yeah D151 really impressed me, So that's why I went and got a whole gallon. I feel like it opened a whole new market for me. I still have to toy with it and keep testing out it's potential.

Oh D156 is the express spray wax. I have some of that, I got a 32 oz bottle after the B24 detail.

I actually just used it in my weekly washes on my Opti coated Dodge.

I did see some added gloss by it. That convinced me if wax adds gloss to your paint or not. And my conclusion is that yes it does....

I'll have to try it alongside D151. I'm sure it will gloss up the paint great.

The gallon of express spray wax is in my cart for my next order in a few weeks actually for that very reason.

Thanks for the heads up Tony!
