So this past Sunday, had in impromptu detailing day with Mint Mint. He needed to help with getting better results on the paint of his Miata. the car didnt look in to bad a shape when he came to the house. He was ready to put in the hard work needed to get the best of his car. we didnt get a ton of before or during pictures, we were in a time crunch. i will list the products we used and post some before and after shots. we did find one surprise, the mirrors had no clear on them what so ever, nothing like see your pad going from white to green in a matter of a couple passes.

wheels cleaned with Wolfgang Uber Wheel Cleaner
snow foamed with Iron-x snow foam
nanoskin with Chemical Guys Mr. Pink
sidekick master blaster to help with drying
Flex 3401 VRG
Wolfgang Uber Compound/Menzerna FG-400 on white hybrid pad
Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant on gray hybrid pad

after a few test spots we found that the white pad with FG-400 got the results we were after, but changed to Wolfgang Uber Compound as the FG-400 started to dust heavily. i couldnt figure out why as this had never happened before. so we switched to the Uber Compound and the dusting stopped.

here are a few before and after pictures. it was a cloudy day, so we didnt get to many shots in the sun. but the results were great, it looks like the paint changed colors and turned into a true BRG color and the metallic just popped on it afterwards

Before shots

Now for some after shots

All in all it was a good day. we knocked this one out in about 7 hours. Marin really put in some hard work and asked a lot of questions. by the time we were all done he had the Flex working just like it suppose to.

Beautiful work Vargas and i commend you on helping another enthusiast in the process.

You obviously found the Uber to be a comparable cutting product to the FG400 but how did it specifically compare to the FG400, minus the dusting issue? Equivalent cut properties? Slightly more cut? Slightly less cut? I assume you stayed with the same pad? The finish came out incredibally well but i'm just trying to get a feel for the maybe slight differences. There has been so much discussion on both products and they both sound like great products

Love the results on the Miata but does Mazda call it BRG? The reason I ask is because "true BRG" isn't metallic and really isn't that shade, just curious.

Either way that fender shot is awesome, I'd take that thing straight to the Dragon....NOW!

they have equal cutting IMO. we did stay with the same pad color for the entire car. i really like them both, if it wasn't for the dusting i would have stayed with the FG-400

funny thing is that i have a honda accord that i am working on also. same white hybrid pad, same FG-400 and no dusting what so ever.

thank you. he was really wanting to know the process, step, products and he put in the hard needed to do the job right.

i dont think they call it BRG, that was the only sun shot we got the entire day. neither one of knew it had a metallic in it until we washed it. thats when we saw the metallic come out and really pop in the sun.

Thanks for the comparison answer. Sounds like they are equal except for the strange occurences of dusting with certain paints for the Menz.

Hey refreshauto thanks again for teaching me and all the help. The work truely made a day and night difference and I'll post pictures tomorrow on this forum once the sun comes out

It was no problem at all, it was a good day and the results were definitely noticeable when we were all done. If you ever back in town hit me up and we can throw a layer of the auto finesse spirit on

Very good!, I saw the Mint's thread where he talked about this Miata, and I read your message to support him.

Couldn't imagine you would met so fast, how great is that?

I think it is called emerald green. Mazda did have a true BRG but like you say it didn't have any metallic in it.
