What are your thoughts of painting brake calipers. Mine are showing rust from all the washing

I painted my rear calipers black when I installed Brembos up front. I used G2 Caliper Paint - brush on type. They also have the VHT aerosol can paint but with that one, it's suggest you bake the components for an 1 hour in the oven. G2 was easier, biggest key it to make sure you thoroughly clean the calipers, - brake cleaner and wire brush. Hope this helps...

 
If you go with G2, apply with 2 coats. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me...
 
You'll have better, longer lasting results
by powder-coating them.

I did mine red and they are holding up good. There are also caliper covers that look much better. When I get home I'll take a pic and do a write up for you.

I painted mine with ceramic caliper paint ( spray kind) two years ago. Still looks great. Stuff wears like iron!
 
My rear drums were looking terrible on my Silverado so I painted them and did the front calipers while I was at it. I used Duplicolor Caliper Paint. I used the brush on paint and they came out great. Wire wheel on a drill first and the solvent cleaner that comes with it.

It's about a year old now and still looks good. I did a touch up a few weeks ago where I put it on a little too thin. Other than that it looks awesome.
 
I used the VHT spray paint and it held up for years on my minitruck.

Getting them extra clean is very important.
 
G2 caliper paint is the way to go unless you remove and powder coat them. The G2 paint is an epoxy based paint and has some gloss to it. The duplicolor kit and vht are ok.
 
I think I'm gonna look into the g2 paint. Sounds easy. Even if have to do every other year. I'm assuming powder coating is expensive plus I don't have time to have that done. Abd the covers I saw were close to $200. Are they worth that and are they easy to put on
 
I used the G2 on my Honda when I had it and it held up really well, after about 2 years there wasn't a single chip on any of them.
While you have the wheels off you might as well go all the way with it:

I used the VHT on a tC I had and prepped them the same as I did with my Honda and in a year there were a few small chips. After I finished painting them I could tell it wasn't as thick or going to be as durable as the G2 and wished I had used it instead.
 
I would go black or silver. Another nice addition would be some accord vinyl lettering.

I just read your wheel well thread. That's pretty cool. I better keep things clean so i don't have to do all that work. Any chance I can paint them without taking them off
