TL;DR: Is something like ScratchX 2.0 good for light scratches caused by a water blade? I would be applying this by hand.
I haven't any noticeable issues with my usual washing method but today my California Water Blade caught something and scratched down one side of my hood.
I wipe the blade off after every swipe and before the initial use each wash (it is kept in the original box when not in use).
I'll post pictures tomorrow but it's basically thin lines running down the driver's side of the hood by the headlight. It runs almost unbroken from the top to the bottom. I can't feel the scratches with my finger / finger nail so I believe they are fairly light.
The strange thing is, I've washed the car weekly (using the same method) for the past three months without issue.
FWIW, I put a coat of Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant on the car in early April.
My usual washing method:
Strong initial rinse
Two-bucket method with a grit-guard in the wash bucket.
I always rub the mitt across the grit guard after every panel.
Strong post-soap rinse
Drying is mainly done with a California Water Blade and spot dried with a Cobra Microfiber cloth.
My wash mitt is a Gold Plush Micro-Chenille Wash Mitt.
I will be sure to post pictures tomorrow. But based on my description, do you think ScratchX 2.0 would do the trick?
Regarding the water blade, I like that it makes drying much quicker but is there something about as quick with a lower chance of scratching?
