Another Klasse SG queston (removal)

I just finished my first detail of my car using Klasse AIO and KSG. Using a 2 oz spray bottle to apply the KSG, I was able to put on a RELATIVELY thick (for KSG, thin for any other wax/sealant) layer. Then I found that using a lightly damp mf, followed by a buff from a dry mf, left me a perfect finish.

My question is will using this method interfere with Klasse's protecting ability? It feels slick as heck, but I was just wondering.
 
Thin is in when applying any sealant or wax, more does not equate to better or longer protection. I find with Klasse SG using a small spray bottle, spritz and buff off, is the best outcome. I don't like to use any water or wet towels to remove as most sealants ask for several hours to cure and bond completely. I personally feel this could slow or dilute the product.
 
This goes back to the whole argument of whether you should dampen your SG applicator with water, etc.

I'm with Killr that damp towel just seems wrong as far as potentially removing product, but you're hardly the first guy to do this, so I wouldn't worry about it.
 
When I first purchased KSG in 2005 I was told about the trick to applying it, which is the damp applicator, so its what I've known for years now and have never looked back. I can't imagine applying it any other way and if there's any concern about the damp applicator removing or diminishing it, well, that's where the 2nd or even 3rd coats come in, not only to ensure complete and total coverage but to add layers. I never had a durability issue in the past when using it either.

OP, IMO you couldn't be doing it more right but add the 2nd coat 12 hrs later for added durability and gloss, sommething about that 2nd coat!

Thanks all, I should have mentioned that this was my first detail of the car for the summer, not my first detail ;) I used the Klasse twins exclusively last summer/fall, but it's been so long I forgot the tips & tricks to using it ... my bad, I'm going on a road trip next week and I am definitely going to put at least one more layer on ... I love the way the bugs fall off the front bumper with KSG :props:
 
Hey Don, did you apply KAIO to all your windows? If not, that's a good thing to do, especially before your trip! KSG should NOT be applied to glass, very, very hard to remove for some reason, don't know why but it is.

There's only so much product that will actually bond to the paint/previous layer, the excess will merely be wiped off.

In that regard, several thin coats applied at the proper cure intervals should yield better results than one thick coat. With KSG, upon application it should darn near "melt" into the paint. That's when you know you've applied just enough to make both an easy removal, and maximize product usage.

Not yet, I still have a bottle of Rain-X to get rid of ... but I did use KSG on the headlights

I know that KSG is best applied thin, but I'm still in the middle of the learning curve. Right now I'm happy that I can get a layer of KSG on and removed without swirls or smears. Besides, even as much as I "over-applied" it, I still used less than 2 oz for the whole car, actually more like an ounce to do the whole car.
 
I sure would hope that you used less than 2 oz of KSG on a car, well unless the car was a 58' Edsel......even then, LOL!

My favorite trick for removing the tuff areas is a squirt of Sonus Acrylic Glanz. The matching spray sealant makes removal a breeze while adding a little extra to everything. It is my way of using extra product and being a sealant waster.

No kidding! I've got a 16oz bottle I've used for 9 years! And that's using it on two vehicles, one of which is a full-size SUV, two times a year! I still have at least a quarter of the SG bottle and half of the AIO.

The Sonus Spritz works even better as it's thinner and designed to be a QD whereas the Glanz is more of a spray wax.
 
Wow....9 yr old bottle of KSG is the "old" formula, should have a little yellowish color to it. I forgot what year, probably 2006-07 they had to channge something in the formula to make in compliant with some federal standards?

Glad its still your choice, it really is a great product forgotten about in the sea of sealants and coatings recently. Until I laid down my DGNCC on my Abarth I still had a couple coats laid down on my CR-Z last fall, love KSG!

Yes, it is yellowish in color. I bought it around 2004. I never expected it to last so long!
 
you are perfectly right 1 AND AS FAR AS WET APPLICATOR WHAT IS MEANT IS A SLIGHTLY DAMP ONE THATS ALL NOT A WET ONE..
