New - Griot's 5" Lithium-Ion Random Orbital

Anyone see this by Griot's. I would think Auto Geek will eventually carry this but I wonder if you can do small correction with this. It is expensive @ $239.00 but can really come in handy at times.

It looks similiar to the one mothers sells. Come to think if it, iirc walmart had one by turtle wax which also looked similiar but I think they both are non-cordless, lack power and are probably only good to apply lsp's...

It's probably quite a bit more expensive than their 6" because its cordless.

Jeez, it's a palm polisher. Probably no correction capabilities. I can get one of these things for 15 bucks with a cord on it though. That price point from Griots is terrible

Griots makes some good stuff, I regularly use their spray products like wash, wax, and undercarriage spray. I also love their paste wax. But I have sometimes noticed a troubling trend in their catalogue where they massively mark up some cheap junk they slap their name on it to make a quick profit. This seems to be the case here.

If battery life and power still an issue with cordless devices, they should start investing in smaller tools (but effective), at first.

A cordless 3" polisher with similar specs (but why not, even more powerful) would handle some good polishing work, and I'd surely order a 2" cordless polisher that would work like a 2" pneumatic tool (less the air compressor, less the air cord, and less the electric power cord compared to corded devices).

I agree with you, for correction these machines would be of little use.

As a wax spreader, it would be Fun, especially if you could get it with 3" backing plate.

I am sure it appeals to some especially that does not know how to apply wax properly...too thick, hard to buff off. They equate waxing (sealing, coating) as a negative experience.

Something like this would be great to use at my girl's apartment. Working by hand has it's draw backs. I bet this thing could at least lay down some glaze, and some wax.

I'd try some Ultimate Polish, and Ultimate wax with it. Obviously, it not gonna handle serious correction, but should be able to clean the paint a little.
