If this doesn't belong here I am sorry, but I had to share this.
So some local kid is advertising he will 'dip' your car. His ad reads Dipping cars for 600 includes the paint, material and time to do the car. He includes a picture of his work.

What is wrong with people?

I guess material to prevent over spray isn't included in that price.

He has black and white overspray on the wheels and tires, and not enough on the lights (why would you paint your lights)?

This is very popular in the JDM, KDM world.

Cheap way to "paint" your car.

Typically though you cover the wheels..not sure what happened here LOL

Well this just sounds like a really short lived bad idea! :-0

I don't understand what this even is. What is dipping?

It's when you get the "Plasti Dip" spray in a can that is used for coating tool handles, etc... (think pliers with rubber handles) and paint your car or parts of your car with that rubber type coating. The "dip" comes in aerosol cans and gallon containers you can spray in a paint gun.

IMHO it looks like crap - pretty much like the handle of my pliers. I "dipped" some door bumper guards as a repair and ended up peeling it off because it just looked too "Tuned by Pep Boys" for me.

It's a relatively cheap way to change the color of your car.

Those examples look great! You need a ton of product though so it does get costly. Will i ever do it? Nahh i'm happy with my car color.

Each to their own.

When done right, I always liked the idea of dipping your car. I wouldn't do it myself, but I like the idea.

Someone on here recently did a job where he had to remove that crap...didn't look like much fun

Seems like for a little bit more money have it done with the stuff they spray for bed liners , at least you have a professional job even thought any of these would add a ton of weight to the ride. IMHO!!!!!

Plasti-Dip, when done right, looks very nice. I plasti dipped the wheels on my camaro ss and it looks really nice and has held up very well for 4 months. If you search DipYourCar on YouTube, you can see how it is supposed to be applied and how good it can look. He also has a video on there, weighing the product after it has been removed from a whole car and the weight is very very minimal!

Wouldn't the $199 Charles Schwaub or Maaco be better yet? I know for $199 you aren't going to get a show car finish, but it must be better than this.

It weighs almost nothing. Plasti-dip is full of thinners that evaporate off as it dries, so almost none of the weight is left behind.

You guys do know that dipping your car is out - but covering it with Astro Turf is in...

Waiting for the shag version to come out to do mine.

Love the dip! It's awesome stuff. Easy to use, cheap, and pretty darn durable. Easy to remove as well when you want to change things up!

I did my wheels a while ago and they are holding up great! 2 buddies of mine did their complete cars and they came out really, really good!

Some good stuff! Love it!
