A simple car wash has turned into an obsession and I need help. Obviously the more I have learned, the more intimidating it has become. Seems everyone has an opinion on what is the "best" product and technique. (Chemical Guys; Junkman, etc.)


I purchased a Wolfgang FLEX XC3401 Ultimate Polishing Kit to get rid of the over spray on my 2011 MDX. The Ultimate kit included Uber Compound, Finishing Glaze & Deep Gloss Sealant 3.0 along with some Lake County Pads, Red, Orange & Blue. Used all of them, even clay.

What you see in the photo is the finished look, still there! Good thing it is not visible to those under 6'5"


I have a ton of questions but these two are at the top of the list

1) what will remove the over spray short of having it sand-blasted (just kidding)
2) I am assuming Wolfgang is a quality product, perhaps they are all the same. Where can I get a step by step "how-to" from wash to finish that incorporates pads, polish, clay? The DVD sent in the package was for Pinnacle and left me scratching my head as to what to do first when using Wolfgang Feed back please

Wolfgang = Top notch abrasive technology. If you want your car's paint to look good don't skimp on compounds and polishes they are the MOST important factor when polishing paint. Some guys say technique is #1 and I flat out say they're wrong. Technique is important of course, but the "stuff" touching the paint doing the work and the magic is number #1.

Here's a primer on the Wolfgang products that will tell you what each of the products does so you'll know when to use them. You need articles like this because most products on the market are not very good at telling you what the product is or the order to use them...

Where can I get a step by step "how-to" from wash to finish that incorporates pads, polish, clay?

I'd recommend my second edition how-to book in either the paperback version or the iPad version. It's very thorough and detailed. Read a few of my articles and you'll get a feel for my writing style and that's what you'll find in the book.

This forum is a great resource, just do like you did and start a thread with your questions. Read through my Wolfgang Four thread as it explains the primary compound and polishes.

Here's a "Test Spot" on an extremely oxidized 1955 Chevy Truck...

This is one extreme of a type of paint polishing project you could come up against but the Wolfgang products can tackle anything, even a wetsanding project.

When you watch the video, keep in mind that we only had ONE chance to captures this on video.

Why?


Because if I had buffed a section on the hood but made any type of mistake where we would have to STOP rolling film to shoot a second take, the paint would no longer have a uniform oxidized ugly appearance. There would be a clear, glossy shiny spot where I buffed.



So the pressure was on!
