Hey AG family,

I know this has been asked a few times but the search engine won't let me search for RV and I don't have time to be hunting through the forums for an answer.

I have a client who's approached me for a Complete Exterior Detail on his RV. He's not sure on measurements, but it seems fairly large in the picture he sent me.

In his words the fibreglass is "chalky" and he "wants it done right".

I told him I would prefer to give it an inspection first, but gave him a sight unseen quote of around $400AUD, with a rough time estimate of 10 hours.

I've never done an RV before and therefore don't know how to price or even detail one!

Any tips would be well appreciated!

Cheers,

-James

Use a one step cleaner wax and your good to go. I heard 15 dollars a foot is okay. You might have under bid

If it is chalky your going to need more than the AIO. Load up on compound and wool pads with a rotary. I have a 32' 5ver and 10 hours with oxidation is not even close with one person working.

I'm going to schedule an inspection with the guy, maybe bring my DA and some product to give him an example of what it will turn out like.

It looks to be around 25-30'. Will get back to everyone with how badly oxidised it is when iIsee it

If its badly oxidized I would charge $17-$25 dollars a foot

Hey James

If it's chalky your going to need to pressure wash and use a good Boat/RV wash. Boat/RV Fiberglass/Gel Coat is completly different then auto finish, it takes alot of pressure and a rotary or a DA that can take using a wool pad like Lake Country's twisted wool pad @ high speed and lots of pressure.

I use a 3401 Flex DA and also a Harbor Freight DA believe it or not for working on boat Gel Coat Finishes with Marine 31 products. And the Marine 31 Heavy Cut Oxidation Cleaner with LC twisted wool pad is a great combo. Have several post of some of my work with pics over on Marine31 Boat Detailing Supplies under kindercarcare.

You should come over there to search the threads and you can find alot of great info on techniques and learn about the different products along with how to's and since it's for boats & RV's you could look around and find your answer and alot more.

But to give you an idea to go by for a wash & Dry/ windows / clean rims / and a 1 step AIO, cleaner/wax is about $13-$15 a foot.

A 2 step, compound/cleaner and a cleaner wax is about $18-$20 a foot. And remember to always do a test spot for YOURSELF to see what it's going to take and how hard it will be to polish out, the harder they are stay at $20 a foot, because materials and products aren't cheap,

The better you are at carrying yourself and being confident and prepared show's and will help you get what your asking for easier. Good Luck:props:

Great info mate, thanks!

I currently don't own a rotary polisher, just my DA, but I was going to invest in one regardless.

I'll let him know he's looking at around $20 a foot, grab some gear and go have a look!

Cheers guys
