Why isn't there any women do Detailing?

I am just curious. all the detail shops in Toronto are run by men. I never seen a single woman that's all.

I guarantee my daughter will be detailing, she is with me every car I do and at 3 years old knows more than most about car care.

I think maybe it's because a lot of women aren't into cars in general.

Not to generalize, but I know I'm one of the only women I know who is obsessed with their car. In every way.

i detail my own car, not for a living and i find it very relaxing. have al ways done my own car. but when i need it buffed, clayed or glass coasted I have a professional detailer do those jobs.

My name is Debbie by the way

Yes, women detail, but I would guess that 90% of the posts in this forum are from males? 95%? 98%? I don't know the OP's intent in asking the question, but if we get past that, it is an interesting question.

I don't know the answer, but I suspect Kitty has made a good guess.

I know of 2 very top notch women detailers...... 2 that would out detail most here lol! :buffing::buffing::buffing:

I still say it's a lack of interest in cars, period. Not ALL women don't have interest (obviously), but most don't.

Perfect example: went out to dinner with my husband last night and his friend and his wife. His friend is a HUGE car and motorcycle guy. So of course the conversation turned to cars a lot of the night.
His wife? She said, "yeah, I drive my car... that's about it".

Now WHY is this? I suspect (like myself) that growing up if your father (or mother) doesn't get you interested in cars, then a lot of times the interest will never be there. I wasn't interested in cars until after college I'd say... not sure why I became interested... probably because everyone I dated was :xyxthumbs:

The detailing part was natural for me... I am a "neat freak" as I've been described many times.

The same can be said for MANY guys also.

As to the apparent lack of those of the "gentle gender"...I venture to say when a lady signs on to a forum she is 'attacked' by a boat load of 'leg humpers' and just don't want or need to deal with that BS.

Just my 2¢...

You either have the interest or you don't. Some are born with it or acquire it some time in their life. When I was growing up I would help Dad work on the car, after all it was a machine and I wanted to know everything about the machine. After learning all the mechanicals, rebuilding engines, transmissions, front ends, brakes etc. I wanted the mechanical machine to look good. I learned body work and painting. Now after all the time and work invested I wanted to keep the machine looking as good as the day I painted it so the next logical move is detailing. I am the same around the house, rebuilt the dish washer, dryer, microwave, plumbing etc. If it is broke I usually can fix it. Besides all this can save a lot of cash over having someone else do it. Most females I have been associated with have no desire to do what I have stated and I believe it is all in the mind set whether male or female. I have seen a lot of men on the side of the road waiting for some one to come change the flat tire. On the flip side I have seen females changing the tire.
