Bootcamp . . what have i done?

Boot Camp update. :xyxthumbs:

Hello all. 116 sleeps to go now. WOW! Nearly under the magic 100 mark. Excite! :buffing:
Some of you may have noticed i've been posting a couple of jobs i've done lately. The response to those has been amazing to say the least. Certainly not expected. :dblthumb2:
Work has been busy & the weather is definitely warming up down here - 24 degrees today. Had a couple of days of 130k winds in a row which isn't much fun. :nomore:
Roll on January!!!!

24°...nice day I'd say. But 130kts winds? Holy *^&*! What hit you guys down there?

For anyone reading Aaryn's temps, they are in Celsius. Quick way to convert to Fahrenheit in your head...double C° add 50=F° (or there abouts).

BIG MISTAKE in TYPING!!!

That '50' should be '30'.

That's what I get for not watching my fingers when typing.

Sorry...

Bill

I've confirmed another vehicle for my January Boot Camp Class, will post pictures as I can get to it.

For those reading this into the future, this class sold out last week sometime so the next class is the first weekend in May.

The page to sign-up for our boot camp classes has not been updated as of my post to this thread but it should be updated by the end of this week.

:)

So 24 degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius and are you taking a camera? :D

Yeah you bet i'm bringing a camera. :props:
Sorry, i forget to convert - 24 degrees celsius.

Hey Bill.
Yep - real windy. 130kph which is about 80mph? We usually get strong winds during spring but the last few days has been silly. :nomore: We live right at the top of the South Island, a real wind tunnel & probably why Cook Straight is one of the nastiest stretches of water in the world. Great day today though, little wind & 22 degrees celsius.
Hahaha - geeze Bill, i only type with one finger! :props:

As promised.... here's the link to the thread where I'll be posting all the pictures of the cars for the January Detailing Boot Camp Class.

Detail Class Training Cars for January 2015

:dblthumb2:

Awesome Mike, thank you! :dblthumb2:
Great line up already! Excite!!! :buffing:

Aayrn,

Yup, about 80mph. When I first read the wind speed, my first reaction was the speed was in 'knots', not kilo/hour. Now, THAT would have been some kind of wind 'event'!

Gonna have to dig my atlas out and take a look see. I'm embarrassed to admit, but I really am not that familiar with New Zealand or Australia.

Wooah!!! Yeah 130 knots would've blown us to Australia . . . nope actually, somewhere near the Antarctic. (blowing the other way doh.) No need to be embarrassed Bill - i'm not to familiar with the States but you are up kinda near Omaha yeah? (Awesome Waylon song :props:)
We are in Blenheim, which is at the top of the South Island. Wine country, vineyards everywhere. We have the Marlborough Sounds as a great tourist destination & holiday hot spot. Locally we have the Omaka Heritage Centre which is stunning. Static displays of classic war planes & very life like wax people etc. a lot of which was made by Peter Jacksons (Lord of the rings, Hobbit . . . ) Weta Workshop. Peter owns a lot of classic planes here, he has seven Focker tri planes that are 100% working + many more. Pretty cool place to live, usually the sunniest place in NZ too which i love. No snow for me sorry Bill. I guess if you Google us there will be some great pictures online. Weekend time for me . . . into the shed to shine the 63 Beetle. :props:
Have a good Friday & a great weekend Bill.

WOW!

That is one pretty area you live. Seeing the mountains and grape vines, reminds me a lot of some areas in the grape growing parts of Oregon.

As for me, no I've further North than Omaha...in Minnesota. If you have Google Earth on your computer...just keep expanding on Minnesota. See I-90 (it goes E-W)? Keep drilling down and staying on I-90. About 100 miles East of the South Dakota state line, you should see Fairmont. Small town (10,000) mostly agriculture based.

For someone who had spend 60+ year living on the West coast (near 'salt water') I'm still going thru a learning experience (LOL). Actually it's more like 'shell shock'.

Have a good weekend...

I found it Bill. Fairmont! :xyxthumbs:
Wow - what did we do before Google earth? Maps i guess . . . not really the same. That sure is a long way from the ocean though Bill. Here in NZ you could drive from almost anywhere & be at the sea side in an hour & a half max.

Yeah we have plenty of grape vines - a real novelty to see a paddock with animals in it around here.

Anyway - here are a couple of pictures taken over the weekend while out taking a few pics for the Tervis tumbler contest thread. :dblthumb2:

This one is taken at the look out on Queen Charlotte Drive over looking Picton. Picton is a small town & the gateway to the North Island of New Zealand. Two ferry company's run from Picton to Wellington (our nations capital) through the Marlborough Sounds - the trip takes around three hours which is a bit of a drag but has some spectacular scenery.

This is taken over looking Governors Bay in the Queen Charlotte Sounds - about ten minutes from Picton.

And here we have a picture looking North up the Kenepuru Sounds - great Snapper fishing!

Pretty neat place to live. :props:

101 sleeps until Boot Camp! Exciting!!!
Aaryn NZ. :dblthumb2:

99!!!!! :dblthumb2:
99 sleeps until we head over for Boot Camp!!! Double digits, not triple anymore. Awesome! :props:

That REALLY is some great looking countryside!

When you mention "Queen Charlotte Sound," my mind goes 'north' to the Queen Charlotte's in BC (Canada). Surprisingly, they look somewhat similar. The BC version has big hurking trees, whereas you have a smaller foliage. The way the land come down to the water is the same.

I hear ya about being 'close' to water. We lived about 5 miles from Puget Sound-that's in Seattle. Then growing up in the Los Angeles area, the beach was a short hour away. For 'big' water, there is the Great Lakes up North. Hard to realize how big those suckers are! Fresh water oceans is more like it.

Here, there are/is a bunch of lakes, so boating a pretty active during the spring/summer time. Not quit the same (LOL).

Still want your Bug!

Thank you Bill. :xyxthumbs:

You kinda forget how great it is here & take it for granted a bit but it is pretty cool. I wish we had more time - we could drive an hour or less in any direction & show pictures of golden sand beaches to rugged coast line to the snow at Rainbow Ski Field, lakes (not as BIG as you have) rivers, tussock covered hills to the lush native bush in the Marlborough Sounds etc etc . . . spoilt really.

Even though i know how BIG everything is going to be when we get over there for Boot Camp - i still think we are going to be really surprised!

Haha - yeah she's a real sweetie my wee bug. Shame she does't get out more often though.

Friday for me Bill . . off to work - neglected red Ford Falcon to shine . . . :buffing:

Cheers Bill.

A lot to see here in the U.S. and true everything is big. For me personally, Florida is the least representative state of what US is, it always feels like I'm in a foreign Caribbean country when I'm there, especially Miami.

Enjoy bootcamp and your visit, we can all tell how super uper duper excited you are. Let us know your impressions and take pictures :xyxthumbs:

Aaryn, good on ya for taking the huge plunge! I plan to go to one of next year's BCs as well, but I'm only about 2100 km from Stuart. On the other hand, I'm a full member of the Brisbane Lions Australian Football Club and have been attending several games a year for five years on now -- total flying distance of 17700 km (Montreal-New York-Los Angeles-Sydney-Brisbane) each way!

Hey. :xyxthumbs:
Yeah really excited! Been a little while since i pushed the button to secure my spot but at only 97 sleeps till we leave its just getting more & more exciting by the day! :dblthumb2:
Camera is a certainty.

I wish we had more time - not going to be doing a great deal of looking around & we are only there for ten days. Being self employed & at out busy time of the year, we just can't have the business shut too long, that & we simply cannot afford it. Would love to get back there some time though for sure! :props:

Aaryn NZ.

Hello. :xyxthumbs:
Wow! Thats what ya call a dedicated sports fan! Well done! :dblthumb2: So - are you Australian? Or just a fan of AFL? We get a couple of games down here in Wellington that draw good crowds but mainly limited to TV. Great game, i enjoy it.

Yeah definitely bite the bullet & get to Boot Camp. I know its so going to worth all the effort & expense for me to attend! not only worth it but its going to be great fun too! :buffing:
Kinda sad also - because i know it may be the only time i'll ever get there.
Go the Brisbane Lions!!! :props:

Aaryn NZ.

Yeah, I think St Kilda call Wellington their second home. I'm 100% Canadian, but fell in love with AFL back in the 80s when the first 24-hour sports networks were starting up and all they had rights to was Aussie Rules, snooker, darts and bowling. :)

I've been over to Auckland, but have yet to make it to points farther south in your supremely beautiful country. But it won't be long before I return!

Please keep posting your preparations and questions here. I think we're all looking forward to hearing every bit about your experience.

Thank you for the support & sharing in my enthusiasm. :dblthumb2: Yeah for sure - do see more than Auckland when you come back to NZ, both Islands are so very different but lots to see & do on both. :dblthumb2:

. . . 91 sleeps to go!!! :dblthumb2:

Travel visa's acquired today. Almost everything checked off the "to do" list now. Luckily work is busy - makes the impatient waiting easier. Hmm - I wonder if the new Pinnacle compound would help pass the time too . . . dare i ask the lady in charge?
