Hi, I'm Alex, I live in Mexico City, I'm a System Engineer. I had been reading tips from this forum since March of 2008, that's when I bought my DA Porter Cable 7424.

I'm glad to be a member of this forum and I will try to help anyone and hope you can help me.

I entered again to read about removing swirl marks from headlights, I'm making a retrofit to my Subaru Forester 2010, and last night I was closing (sealing) the headlight, but before it I tried to clean all dust and fingerprints from the inside of plastic lens using a microfiber and for my surprise I made some terrible swirl marks, so is there anyone can help me with some recommendation, I will appreciate that.

Thanks

Alex

Welcome to autogeek...as for your situation you could use a compound/polish you have on hand to take away those swirls

Hi James, thank you for your response.

Unlucky, I tried that, but since it is the inside of plastic lens and I didn't knew that the inside of the plastic lens is so sensitive to scratches, I made that swirl marks, I use a non abrasive polish and it made just worse. I need a plastic or acrylic polymer sealant that could fill the space of the swirl with a clear coat and it will remove the swirl, so I was thinking about 3 options.

1) Using products like: Turtle Wax T-43 (2-in-1) Headlight cleaner and sealant, Blue Magic 730-6 Headlight Lens Sealer or Novus #2 and #3.

2) Using Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit (using just the activator and the UV Block clear coat).

3) Making a sealant clear coat with Mineral Spirits and some UV Urethane coating.

Anyone else?

Thanks.

Alex
