Up for this weekend was an awesome 2014 Honda Fury 1300. With a 1312cc V-twin, it's an absolute monster. Even though it's a 2014 the single stage paint already had some damage inflicted - swirls and a few RIDS for the most part.

Wash and Dry
  • Gilmour Foamaster Foam Gun
  • Chemical Guys Extreme Maxi-Suds II
  • Microfiber Wash Mitt
  • Two 5 gallon buckets with Grit Guards
  • Toro 230mph blower
  • DetailedImage Waffle Weave Towel

I knew I was going to be polishing, so I wasn't worried about the couple coats of Meguiar's Black Wax the owner had put on.

Decon
  • CarPro Spotless

There weren't any bonded contaminants, so a wipe down with CarPro Spotless was all that was needed.

Compound
  • Menzerna FG400
  • Lake Crystal 3" Orange Fine Cutting Pad
  • DetailedImage Ultra Plush 16x16

After a test spot, I settled on FG400 with LC Orange pad at Speed 6 on the 7424XP with little to no pressure. One pass took care of the swirls, and a second pass took care of any RIDS.

Polish
  • Menzerna PF2500
  • Lake Crystal 3" White Polishing Pad
  • DetailedImage Ultra Plush 16x16

PF2500 on the LC White pads did a good job of clearing up the minimal haze left over by the FG400. I probably could have skipped this step, but since polishing bikes is so quick I decided to go for it anyway. Speed 3 with no pressure on the 7424XP.

Finishing Polish
  • Menzerna SF4500
  • Lake Crystal 3" Blue Fine Finishing Pad
  • DetailedImage Deep Blue 16x16

SF4500 is by far my favorite finishing polish. It adds a ridiculous amount of depth to black, dark red, and dark blue paints. It's also an extremely easy polish to work with - it spreads easily and evenly, and wipes off even easier.

Wipe Down
  • CarPro Eraser
  • DetailedImage Waffle Weave

I like using a Waffle Weave for this step to make sure there are absolutely no fuzzies floating around.

LSP
  • CarPro CQuartzUK
  • CarPro Reload

To help protect the single stage paint and give the now flawless black some pop, I went with two coats of CQuartzUK topped with Reload. The chrome got the same treatment. The wheels are matte and I don't have any LSPs for matte right now. Any input on the CG Jeatseal Matte?

I love working on motorcycles - you can get rewarding results in such a short amount of time compared to cars.

You did an awesome job on the paint. Looks really nice. Bike lift in the future?
I don't pay much attention to what honda and the "others" make but, they really push the limits on making some of their bikes look like harleys and the custom companies bikes. I guess thats the greatest sign of respect.
Still, you did some nice work on the bike

Probably no lift in the near future. Most likely a front\rear stand fairly soon, though. Heavier bikes like this one aren't a problem - the Ninja 650 I did a few weeks ago was a bit sketchier, though.

Short amount of time compared to cars?!? Even with all those nooks and crannies? Great job BTW.

The fins were a bit of a pain, but nothing terrible. Having an excessive amount of general use microfibers, the wheel woolie, and a metric crapton of Q-Tips helped.

Beautiful work! That black paint was polished to perfection with Menzerna! And to seal the deal, CQUK added that crystal clear pop.

Well done.

Thanks Mike! The more I'm using Menzerna polishes, the more I love them.

Outstanding! The paint looks terrific! I only have a 5 in plate for my pc right now. After seeing your results I will be ordering a smaller plate soon! I haven't decided on product just yet. My truck and bike are both black and my truck just finished real nice with xmt.

Thanks man. The 3" pads are great for cars and trucks too, you just have to be careful because it's a lot easier to burn through paint with them.

Superior work on that Bike, and great product choices

Thanks! Loving Menzerna.

great work on the bike!

Appreciate it!
