Don't ask me any specifics about these cars - I couldn't tell ya. But, this place is pretty cool. Most cars there were decently detailed - with faint marring.

I was there a couple years ago...one of the really cool things about his collection is that not only are they some really great race cars but, IIRC most are operational and get periodically driven. For example, you can see the catch pan under this one:

Yeah, I did notice that. They had a huge motorcycle display - and it seemed like most of them had catch pans and had a few oil drips or so.

I also went to the America on Wheels Museum the other day - but didn't take any pics. Was kind of bummed because I went hungry & the cafe was closed. :(

Never been to America on Wheels...worth the trip?

It's OK. Not as good as the Simeone. A lot of stuff having to do with Mack Trucks, Fire Trucks, and some bicycles as well. Not as many "sports cars" - and not a single BMW in the place :(.

A lot of very old cars (pre-WW II) and they currently have an exhibit on "lost Marques" - which are rare brand cars no longer around; like Edsel, Avanti, & Studebaker.

The do have some learning exhibits as well and a library of car books you could sit and read until your heart's content.

The sell the Schmitt mit in the gift shop and some detailing supplies by "Technician's Choice" - whoever they are. I was out of there in about an hour because I was hungry and getting cranky. I probably would have stayed longer.

I am a volunteer at the Simeone Museum. A visit on a rainy day would be great, but you would do better to come on one of our demonstration days. You will see the cars being driven in our back lot and will be able to come right up to them, hoods off, afterwords. You can go to the Simeone Museum page on youtube.com and see videos of the way we do a demonstration day. Also, one of our volunteers keeps all of the cars looking good with "Bike Spirits". Next Demonstration day is toward the end of September.
Additionally, thanks for posting the photos here of the collection.
It does not matter what type of camera you have. These cars look great thru any lens.

Yeah...I saw they sold "Bike Spirits". What is that stuff? Looked sort of like a waterless wash type product.

I would love to "volunteer" to detail some of those cars...

Hello, Bike Spirits is a product originally made for motorcycle painted parts. It is an aerosol spray. It is so slippery, that one time Bob had just used it on the trunk of the Ferrari Testa Rossa and I put my GoPro suction mount on it. As Dr.Simeone pulled away, the mount slid right off the back of the car. No damage to the Ferrari, but the housing clip broke on the GoPro.
We always need volunteers at the museum especially to work admission desk and gift shop. You can volunteer 1 day a month if you like. The biggest perk is you CAN clean the cars if needed and Kevin Kelly, the curator, sometimes takes us volunteers on a ride in the cars. Here is a video I did with some of the guys. We have volunteers from over a 2 hour drive away. Lucky, I live 10 minutes from there.

Holy crap! That is automobile heaven:
Ferrari 250 GTO, Ferrari Testa Rossa pontoon fender, Maserati 300S, Ferrari 375 MM, Peugeot Darl'mat Le Mans, Aston Martin Le Mans, Auburn Speedster, Jaguar C, Jaguar D, Alfa Romeo 8C, Alfa Romeo 33, Mercedes Gullwing, BMW 328, Cobra Daytona Coupé, etc.
All that amounts to a LOT of money!
It seems that Neurologists have an eye for cars: Peter Williamson, of the fabulous Bugatti collection, was one; Frederick Simeone is another (Neurosurgeon).
Thanks for sharing! :dblthumb2:
