Collinite Marque D'Elegance & Other Wax/Sealant Recommendations

Get the 915, I've used 476 but never bought it, like all Collinites, you cant go wrong but if you after a better/glossier finish, 915 is the one to go for.
Honestly, after 845, Menz Power Lock and 915 I'm beginning to think I've reached the height of lsp's, especially 915, its durable and has the shine of waxes that costs ten times its price. I really am blown away, but am still willing to buy more lsp's to see if anything can match or beat it, will post pics and my experiences as I go along. From the little that I know, the Americans and Germans seem to have everyone beat.

When i used the 915 paste with my flex 3401 on a blue CCS finishing pad it would spread very well and THIN for a panel or two and then start to taper out. It was so thin that it was difficult to see. The wax will start to build up on the face of the pad and stick to it rather than transfering to the panel.

That's when i would drop some very tiny spots of 845 on the pad using a micrometer. I could be wrong, but it seems the chems used to break down the carnuaba into liquid help in the transfer of the remaining 915 to the panel. The results were great. Hope yours works out too!

Great, thanks for the input guys.

Sorry for the thread hi-jack, Zubair!

which products would you recommend for LSP's?
Hi Zubair...

It's my understanding that Meguiar's M188 Deep Crystal Coating System is available in your area of the World. (If not Johannesburg...then probably Capetown).

If so: I suggest it be your next LSP.

Thanks, will look into it.

I did a little test on my race cars bonnet(hood) of the 3 LSP's, what I found is that on a horizontal surface like the one tested one cannot tell them apart.

Products used:

Car was covered by a car cover which looked to have stained the paint more than anything, this is what it looked like after a wash:

After Menzerna PF2500 by hand:

Thereafter tried from left to right Menzerna Power Lock, Collinite 915 centre, 845 right:

If you wondering why the car looks odd, its because there are no fenders, being a drag car the wide fenders uses to accomodate the Mickey Thompson slicks don't allow for it to be pulled into the narrow back yard, it usually looks like this:

This is what the GTI looks after being driven daily a couple of days after 915, drove through some road construction and dust and it still looks good:

See fence reflection on sides:

Nice turn around on that hood. Besides using the 3 LSPs I like how you used PF2500! That is one of my favorite products for one step. I feel it doesn't get alot of credit.

BTW the big ole slicks look killer! Big fan of drag racing. This was my last drag car. Ran 10.8@127.

Yep I'm a huge Menz fan, use the PF2500 and SF4000 almost always for correction, beautiful V8 there, I really need a black car in my life.

Huge #915 fan here. Apply with my flex and remove with a bonnet over a firmer pad works like a charm for me.

What is your trick to getting the 915 onto the pad to apply? I'm a faithful 845 user and would love to put 915 on my black car, but since it's a paste I've never tried it. I feel I can apply LSP much more evenly, thinner, and faster by machine than hand.

Plastic spoon or butter knife

I understand the whole you get a more and even spread with a machine when applying an LSP but I will never use a machine for this, too much pick up and put down and pick up and put down when you can simply do it by hand and make it alot easier, that's just me.

Waxes/lsp's for me are by hand only as no need for a machine to correct but more so its just so much more intimate/personal and rewarding when finishing off this way.

Haha not even in the remotest of ways, but I know many will be able to relate in a paint care/car care way.

Couldn't agree more!

By the way, noone have any comments or experience on the other waxes/sealants I plan to purchase?

I will typically do the entire vehicle all at once and then go back and buff it out by hand, so it's one smooth application without the repetition. The first time I used 845 and applied it with a DA, it was a life changing event. I was shocked at how evenly it spread and the speed I was able to knock out an entire car blew me away.

I just don't have the time to dedicate applying by hand with the same quality as I get in a fraction of the time with a DA. As much as I would enjoy it, life just doesn't afford me the opportunity.

Just went back and looked at your list.

The only other one I've tried is the Meg's Deep Crystal Liquid. This is the wax in a smallish maroon bottle, correct? I have not used it for quite a while, but I remember it looking really good and lasting a longer than I expected.

Correct same bottle, very decent shine but not in the same calibre as the Menz PL, Collie waxes for looks or durability. The lsp's I'm enquiring about are FK 2685 pink wax, 1000P, Max Wax, S100 and Dodo Juice Hard Candy.
