Shipping costs

Just a few months ago AG had free shipping over 50 dollars and now it's free shipping at 150 dollars. Whoa. Just my .02.

If AG had free over 50 I think very few people would have an issue IMO, come on do it :D

For all you guys that don't like the high shipping, its like this everywhere.

Shipping prices are up year after year, and the worst I've ever seen. We own a small business, and I bet we paid $25,000 in shipping to the USPS last year.

Places that are giving you "free" or low cost shipping are making it up some where else. Shipping is never really free, they just make it up some where else.

I use Amazon to get a lot of my bulk heavy items like cases of Mobil 3309 ATF for my Volvo. I can either pay $20-30$ a quart from the Volvo dealer, or buy the same stuff with out Volvo on the bottle in cases of 12 quarts for about $75 shipped from Amazon. I don't buy any detailing stuff from there because I can never find what I need.

I have been into cars for about 15 years and I have parted out several cars over the years. This last one I'm still working on, and prices have got so high on shipping even with a business account that things like the front and rear bumpers I can't even give away because shipping is $275.

What really needs to happen (though it never will) is that the USPS should restructure how it works. Shipping is so high these days its killing small online business.

The USPS should charge 10x more for stupid stuff like junk bulk mail that no one really wants to get, they should stop Saturday delivery, and in return they should lower prices on shipping small and medium sized boxes to normal people and small & medium sized buiensss.

They already loose money hand over fist, so they should help out as much as they can.

AG won't use USPS. They are unreliable & people would be complaining left & right stuff was lost or damaged.

Every try dealing with the post office? They don't have a clue.

I think very few people would shop anywhere else. Crunch on those numbers for a while.

Not sure exactly what you mean?

It means if AG had free shipping over $50 they might end up cornering a humongous portion of the market which would offset the costs incurred by eating the shipping.
Then again I'm not a numbers cruncher.

Ah I see, yes that is what I was saying as well :dblthumb2:

Good News from FedEx: FedEx announced today that profits are up 24%.

Better News from FedEx: It is raising rates on some/most of its services so that profits will double by next year.

You get more than free shipping forc $100. I getvfree movies and tv shows. I get free music. Its awesome. .

And by the way steve... The post office delivers fedex and ups packages and vice versa.. the post office is cheaper than the other two. . And fedex flys post office overnight packages. Guess who gets pissed on if the planes late and subsequently gets to you late from the mailman. ..not fedex.. I'm just busting your balls.. but that is the truth

Search around. I got tired of waiting for sales and paying $150 for free shipping so I found another place that I can get any order shipped for $5. The only advantage to AG is that they literally carry almost every brand of detailing supplies and almost always have everything in stock.

aannnd... they will also ship to you for $5. Just put in the comments you want ______'s shipping offer matched.
This is so simple. I don't get why everyone wants to make such a big deal out of it. How hard is it to Google 'auto detailing supplies' and pick your deal?

IDK about anyone else but why would someone go through the extra effort to price match? I would just order it from the company that has the cheaper prices...

Hopefully they still keep up the great sales during black friday/xmas time.

Because we're usually not 'price' matching - we're deal matching. Get someone elses deal (discount and shipping) and apply it to AG's selection, service and specials.

I don't agree, on Amazon you can get free shipping on $25+ orders for 85% of what's on the site. Shipping's one thing that will vary wildly site to site. While I will agree shipping has gone up for a lot of places. I can still find plenty where it's free with a stupid low order. If Amazon had a better selection of detailing stuff, I mean in their actual warehouses not 3rd party sellers. I wouldn't order from anywhere else. I realize they can offer better shipping rates due to the volume they do. But there are plenty of smaller places that have free shipping on small'ish orders or a reasonably low flat rate. My problem is I often times order 1 item, and when the shipping's close to, or more than the price of the item, that's a problem. A small 16oz bottle of tire cleaner shouldn't cost $11 to ship. I'm not talking about AG, this was another site I ordered from.

Have to agree...the shipping seems high. I just spent $20 on a $90 order and did not get any sort of discount. I've ordered thousands of dollars of stuff over the years from Pelican Parts and almost NEVER paid shipping...and we are talking about some heavy items. It also shows up shockingly fast, if I order by wednesday 90% of the time I see it by the weekend! I only ordered 2 bottles (sealant and polisher) and it took 8 days...not horrible but not worth over 20% of the purchase price. They seem to be the only game in town for some items so I guess they're some room for competition....

the big thing for me is still the fact that the same item on AG and amazon, both sold by the same people (palm beach motoring), both items will leave the from the same warehouse, picked by the same people, boxed by the same people, both items are same price.

and the amazon shipping is 6.95, while the AG shipping is 12.95-15.95... if anything it should be the other way around due to having to go through a third party like amazon.

but all other BS about why shipping is more or less aside... that is just plain ridiculous to do to your loyal customer who want to order directly from the site

I really wish they had flat rate shipping for small orders, something like $4.99 shipping for orders $50 and over. Other competitor sites are doing this and I find myself ordering from them and not AG for my smaller needs. As a weekend enthusiast, the 150 target just becomes tough to meet, and shipping costs for smaller orders is prohibitive.

One other option is to run this $4.99 shipping special through the newsletter for us loyal AG buyers. So, if AG can't afford to offer such to the general public, seems like this would be a "value added" service to their loyal customers.

Just my 2 cents.

What they need is a lightweight option. If you buy an expensive wax or some microfibers, the shipping price is outrageous due to the value, not the weight.

Thinking along the same lines...like the shipping cost if ya just want to get Mike's book(s).

Bill

Often I have wanted to order one item that I wanted to try out or forgot to get from a previous order.
$12.95 to ship one small item is just too expensive. I think that they would benefit as much as the customer would if they could restructure their shipping costs....

I have had the same issue with AutoGeek. In most cases they are higher than any company that I deal with. If shipping is to high I either don't buy it or get it at a different source.

I am quite surprised that this thread is not closed.

AutoGeek is not going to change their policy on shipping and no matter what is said on this forum is going to change.

This thread should be closed.

Chemical Guys just had free shipping over $50, so I ordered a dozen microfiber and a couple of odds & ends Total $71.70 Shipped free from Cali to New Jersey.
