Grit Sanding Marks?

I believe there are some pictures regarding yourCan someone explain me what it means using pictures? I have heard this term quite a bit, don't know what it means.

Can someone explain me what it means using pictures? I have heard this term quite a bit, don't know what it means.
It's not "grit sanding", it's "xxx grit, sanding marks", i.e. the marks left by sanding with whatever grit (1000, 2000, 3000) sandpaper you were using. Because the grit/sand/abrasive is nominally the same size for a given grit size/rating, a compound might be rated by grit size marks it can remove, like for instance Menz FG400 is rated for removal of 1200 grit sanding marks.
