How to make Nxt Generation 2.0 more durable???

Look.......in short you bought the wrong product for long term durability. Buy one that is KNOWN for durability after you strip that crap off and go from there. Give the 2.0 to someone you don't like very much while proclaiming it is the best ever.

I really liked the look of NXT 2.0. But always used it on my garage kept Mustang until I found Autogeek. The outside vehicle got 845.

From everything I have read (from Meguiars, Mike Phillips, etc), the second coat is to ensure uniformity and fill in any gaps missed on the first coat more than anything else. The 2nd coat doesn't necessarily make the coating thicker or make it last longer. Or at least that has never been proven.

Anyhow, my point is that if you ensure a good, uniform first coat, a 2nd coat is largely unnecessary and mostly for psychological benefit. Someone please correct me if I'm off base here.

If I'm not mistaken NXT 2.0 has light cleaning and polishing abilities so a 2nd "coat" would be stripping the initial application as you are applying the second. There is no benefit other than to ensure 100% coverage (which can easily be accomplished with careful initial application).

I too liked the look of NXT. It seems to give the illusion of greater thickness to the clear and it fills quite well. I had not used it in a few years until recently. I applied NXT and then layered Reload on top. It does seem like look and the filling has laster longer than I remember. Its been on my truck for 2.5 months now with only 2 washes. The crows feet marks on my hood (its 21 yrs old) are just now becoming more noticeable. So I guess this way I am using the NXT more as a glaze and then protecting that with the Reload. The Reload is definitely better at keeping the truck looking clean.

I disagree, the OP asked how to make a product known to not be durable more durable, durability meaning longevity. What best way to preserve its life other than layering something much stronger over it? He can layer NXT till kingdom come but it will never have the durability of a single layer of something proven. The best advice here was the simplest and one that will save him time and money going forward, " get something more durable from the start". Dont try and fix something when you can just buy something that doesn't need fixing.

The reason I posted this is because he asked about NXT and everyone told him to get collinite. Which is fine but he was asking about NXT and not collinite.

I agree with some of the other comments on here to use D156 or ultimate quik wax and just let it run it's course and if he is looking for more durability then he can invest in another sealant that is longer lasting than NXT.

No cleaners according to Mike Stoops. But polish yes.

Not sure why so many people consider NXT to be a cleaner wax - it isn't. It's a polish wax, as is 21, as is Ultimate Wax. You get more cleaning ability from the applicator you use than anything NXT has in it.

NXT has virtually zero cleaning ability in and of itself. Like we said, you'll get more cleaning action out of your applicator than you will the NXT itself.

I used NXT 2.0 exclusively before I found Autogeek. It is chock full of fillers and gloss enhancers so it makes poorly kept finish shine. Once you truly clean and polish your paint to a brilliant finish, there are better options IMO because NXT doesent really help the look any longer. I think for your average Joe auto car wash once a month type car owner, its about as good as you can get.

I would think that "Gloss enhancers"...in an LSP...
would be a most wanted attribute.

They Call Me "Mister Joseph"

Take the NXT Gen2 label off the can and wrap it around a can of Collinite.
Sorry, I could not resist.

That's what a glaze does, and that's why some people use one on perfect paint if they don't care about durability.

To paraphrase:
You mentioned earlier that you're a changed-man since finding detailing forums...

But surely you don't honestly believe that Waxes and Sealants would not contain "gloss enhancers"!

all this talk about nxt made me go check to see what paste waxes i have and i still have a tin of both the original nxt and 2.0 which are about half full. for some strange reason, i like the smell of the nxt 2.0... *shrugs shoulders*

to extend the nxt 2.0 if were to use it, i would just use UQW in between washes. UQW is certainly a lot easier to use and lasts longer than the nxt tech spray wax which i had used when the whole next line had come out...

Im not sure where I said I am a "changed man", go ahead and quote that post if you can.

As far as waxes and sealants containing glazes and fillers, it really depends on the product, thats what I honestly believe.

I actually like this wax. it brightens the color of my car.

I think for short term will use Ultimate Quik wax as a drying aid to extend protection.

I to was one of those people that used NXT before I found autogeek. Since it was one of the more expensive otc waxes, I figured it had to be good. It smelled good and was super easy to apply and remove (NOT the NXT spray wax, that was a nightmare). I used UQW every other car wash and got decent durability and a nice shine.

Using a maintenance spray wax is probably the only way to enhance the durability of NXT.

Having said that, since finding this forum several years ago, I learned that there are so many much better products than NXT and so many more brands than I could imagine. NXT has been removed from my arsenal permanently. Lots of other products produce better results with longer durability for sure.
