I just ordered a kit today for my new-to-me 2013 Viper. The paint code PR7, Adrenaline Red, I hope they can match it right. Based on information here, and what I've found on the web, this seems easy enough that even an idiot like me can do it. These cars pick up scratches an nicks very easy, especially due to the sticky tires throwing things around, and I'd like to keep ahead of the game!

Dr. Color chip is amazing stuff. We used some on my dads 98 740il in navarraviolet (a rather rare color). This was the car that would take countless 1000 mile trips to California and then back. The front bumper, hood and mirrors were trashed with road rash. We had tried using BMW touch up paint, but it did not match whatsoever. Dr. Color chip repaired it very easily and now you can't even tell the difference between where it was damaged and where it wasn't. I'll try and find some pictures for you

Well...I'm working on a neighbors 73 Beetle. He had ordered a kit. He has some good size chips. I didn't realize this product isn't designed to fill in chips, just put color in the chip (per Lisa at Dr Colorchip).
I understand this is an old car but they were given the right paint code, which is Olympic Blue, pretty much a baby blue. The paint he got was a blue green color. A couple calls, taking pictures of the whole car under Fluorscent lights they are mixing new paint and sending it.
It may work in the tiny chips in my car. I'm not saying it doesn't work on larger chips to me the ads were a little misleading. All their videos it appears the chips are completely filled.
My plan it to carefully fill the chips like you would with touch up paint and using the blending solution to level it with the surface.
I have seen some videos where people do the process four or five times to make the paint level. I have way too many chips for that.

I suspect this is why you seldom see any real close-up photos of scratch or chip repairs on the Forum

I will. This is quite a project. Some of the big chips have rust. I've been using the chemical that turns rust into sandable primer and prevents the metal from continuing to rust. I Would use traditional back up paint on this one with the size of the chips but the paint is only 3.5 mils thick. Crazy it's a repaint and has that thin a coat. I' not going to put much paper to it.
The owner is a neighbor and understands the situation. This was a new hood/trunk lid and it came with a thin coat of primer that I assume the manufacturer puts on there just to keep it from rusting before it gets to it's destination. As far as we can tell the painter didn't put any more primer on it. no wonder it's chipping so bad.
