Ok, so I did my hood on my Escalade a couple weeks ago and noticed after I washed it the other day that the hood feels rough. It failed the bag test. I did clay and did one step on it before applying cqurtz and it was smooth. One thing I did notice when I did layer the cqurtz and applying few drops didn't seem like it was layering right or had enough product on it and I only did one coat. So today I clayed again and waterless washed it after that and applied another coat of cquartz. This time looks like a lot more product was on and spreading a little better. So I was wondering if anyone else had this issue? Or was it just that I didn't do 2 layers and that it wasn't layering correctly? Thanks for the help. I also did my front quarter panels today so give it a few hours and do 2nd layer on them.

Thanks
Brent

Also noticing that it doesn't feel buttery smooth as when I have glaze and wax on it. But does bead like crazy.

so all you did was clay and a one step before applying CQUK?? No Iron decon, etc?? Also, how are you applying, what is the temp, how is the car kept all day, tons of factors to consider so list'em... :)

Yeah sorry I should have got a little more into it. Yes car was washed, Decon all before claying and one step. Car is in very very good shape. Swrill free basically as I baby this thing washed right after any kind of rain. I just did one step to make sure nothing was there. I did it in about 70 degree weather with basically no humidity. I also applied the coat then wiped off within 2-5 mins. The car is kept in the garage unless I have another car to detail that I take it out overnight which is not a lot as I mostly do my details on the weekends. I also work from home so don't drive it that much. But this past weekend I was away and wife took the kids to a farm for fall stuff and it rained this passed weekend and had car was muddy from going into a feild. Also she left it out of the garage while it rained because she was working on somestuff in the garage. Still it sheeds water great and beeds. Just felt ruff.

Also to give you an idea what the car looks like. As a detailer I can't have a durty car. I use all Adams products now but want to start offering Cquartz to customers but want to make sure I practice and get it right on my car first

The roughness could be a combination of industrial overpray, paint overspray, iron particle (break and rail) etc... Your first step should be to treat it with some IronX to see if you are not dealing with iron contamination. A wash with Reset + IronX decon should be enough to revive that silky smooth finish. You can use a light clay to clay UK but you should not have to (since it is so fresh)

^^ CRAP!! I just thought of something. My wife decided to paint some things close to the garage this past weekend while I was out of town. Wasn't close to the car but feel like wind could have carried some of the paint. I didn't even think of that until you said overspray. So thanks for saying that and having it pop into my head. I will keep an update. Thanks guys.

I think Claude is spot on with the overspray. In such a short time it would almost have to be something along those lines to cause the paint to feel rough. Overspray can travel a lot further than people think!

From my experience you wont get that just waxed feel. i applied it to my car in april for the first time. Loved the beading but you just dont get that waxed smooth finish. but if you use reload you can get a more smooth feeling.

+1 to this. I've also experienced this on my Acura.

Thanks guys. I got some reload to put on later. But yeah that must have def been it. Now I have to go out and wash the my wifes car and take a look at it as well. If I was home I would have moved the cars or moved what she was painting further away.

Has anyone seen cqurtz has up real quick when applying? The weather was cool 60's with little to no humidity.

Pls dont use waterless wash pre coating, such products contain loads of silicones and polymers that can haze the surface if used cquartz after. use neat shampoo without any polymers in them.
preferred our Reset or any other soap like that.

This time I actually have eraser. So I washed, clayed, buffed, eraser and then applied cquartz.

I see they have a new 2014 version out. Any details on changes to formula?

Ok this is what I am seeing in direct sunlight. It has this greasy look. I am wondering if i am putting to much on the application pad. But when I dab it to me looks like barely anything is coming out of the bottle. Has anyone seen this?

Will this also be the case with the new Ech2o ?
