LMAO!! Saw one today too!! Looks awesome!! It was a white one. I am not a fan of any white colored car....in this case I MIGHT make an exception...
 
I think we need to call the law on that owner......but really it's a shame how people don't care maybe you should have gave them a tutoring session
 
Am I the only one who thinks it's downright stupid to offer a turbo model for almost $2000 more than the v6 with 5 less hp. I predict 1 year for the turbo. Now that ecoboost turbo in a Fusion with a stick......

The real problem is much deeper however than just offering a "turbo" here and there. In an effort to maintain CAFE standards manufacturers are offering smaller and smaller power plants, AND.... in an effort to try and keep the (American) motoring public buying said vehicles they are slapping a turbo on woefully anemic power plants. :rolleyes:

Back when my daughter was in high school she was given an loaner while here GTP was in the shop. That loaner was a SAAB 9.3 that was rated at 255HP (or might have been the one with 280), really didn't matter though. Problem is/was that unless you kept it revved up to redline it darned near couldn't get out of it's own way! Her car was a 3.9L V6 rated at 240HP and it'd stomp the living crap outta' that SLOB... er SAAB.

She got out the owners manual and it had inside, ever so proudly.... "Welcome to European driving!"

She was like: "So in Europe you have cars you HAVE to drive wide open, buy gas by the Liter, and they STILL won't get out of their own way." :laughing:

The underlying part that really gets me though is that you have smaller, under powered, over worked engines trying their very best to propel 3700 pound vehicles, huffing and puffing from the time you crank it up. Or in the case of pickups these days, lugging 4700 pound vehicles down the road knowing all the while that the power plant IS the weakest link in the grand scheme of things.

Imagine towing a 4000 pound travel trailer with the frontal area of an expressway billboard with a 3.7L turbo in your crew cab? :eek:

One of the oldest things known to man when it comes to engines and power (initially coined in drag racing); There is no substitute for cubic inches!:dblthumb2:

Yeah yeah... I know that a lighter, more powerful engine gives you better F/R weight distribution, but we're not talking about race cars here. Buyer in the last decade have been keeping vehicles longer than ever, that's well documented. Perhaps the auto manufacturers have caught on :dunno: and decided they'll start selling vehicles where the engines wear out long before the rust prevention does. Which of course forces you to get rid of that hunk-o-junk just after the 36,000 powertrain warranty expires. :laughing:

I'll take that 5.3L/5.7L 'Merican' V8 any day thank you. :props:

I'm pretty sure not only do CAFE standards come into play here but the fact that the Euro market gets the turbo model only factors in. Now if the Euro market snaps them up its good because FoMoCo makes money and then inturn make the models here better, anyone have a problem with that?

Then there's insurance, some may need the lower rate of the 4 banger turbo, while others like the lower cost of getting into the car but want to be able to "tune it up" and get great mileage too, is that so wrong too?

You do know there's 400-500 hp 2.3L Ecoboosted Stangs around already, right. Imagine what would happen to the 68' GTO w/ a 4 speed and 3.36 gears and pulls up next to him talking typical "Murican" to the owner of the lowly 4 banger and then has his ASS handed to him:p

You Camaro fans better get ready too, a boosted 4 banger is coming to a Camaro near you soon enough too!

:xyxthumbs: My dad pretty much raised me at the drag strip and yep, the common phrase was, there is no replacement for displacement!

Unless, of course, you want to top that 572 with a blower and nitrous.
 
"No replacement for displacement"...hmm, kinda funny how my 406 s/b powered 78' Caprice would beat BB's all the time, not all of them, but many of them;)

Also I used to hear this all the time when I had my 87' GN too and here's what I'd say. I would point to the engine and say "there's 231 cubic inches", then i'd point to the turbo and say "there's another 231 cubic inches", thus making it 462 cubic inches, LOL.

Flashforward to today, the GT-R, 3.8L w/ 2 hairdryers and depending upon the year it makes anywhere from 485 hp to 560 hp in stock trim but like the days of old, what's "stock" anymore? Its not the guy w/ that 68' Goat didn't add headers and cherry bombs, upgraded the clutch and swapped in 3.90 cogs into the rearend, the more things change the more they stay the same:cool:

I really think it looks a lot like the Mazda 6 only in coupe form. I suspect if you parked them side by side it would be quite similar. Obviously both would have specific front/back and engine/suspension package. Not saying its exact, but similar.
 
I was behind a new Mustang yesterday. I love the sequential turn signals, but the rear of the vehicle was kinda boring.
 
I'll keep my 2012 5.0....but the aftermarket has these turbo 4 cylinders moving out!

I love the sound of the Mustang, dating back to when I test drove a then new 05' GT. I couldn't believe how that thing sounded bone stock! I'm sure the new one sounds great because the recent 5.0's have nailed it, no question! Now torque is torque, no doubt about it and the GT comes out swinging w/ 435 hp, adding a cat-back, tune and SRI should get you another 25 hp, getting you what the C7 makes, maybe more but I tend to think on the conservative side with power numbers and the Stang has 1.2L less or almost what my Abarth has under the hood, LOL!

My buddy in Tenn gets his GT w/ Trac-Pak on the 17th! He told me that when he's ready to trade in his Focus he's getting the Ecoboost for a DD, must be nice:cool:

Seen a 15' the other day when I dropped my GT off at the delearship for service, ehhhh still don't like the front end. Nothing beats the roar of a V8 - now if I can convince my wife to let me have my Whipple :dblthumb2:
 
By far the best looking Mustang Ford has produced. Shame the new owner is using the coin car wash but it happens everyday.
