33K by the way. it's a tough call. i like new but man this car is beautiful

If its a "toy" and nothing else, get the old Stang but if you need a DD that can double as an occassional toy, no doubt about it, get the new one! It drives better, has a warranty, is faster, brakes better, corners better....oh wait, I'm swaying you, LOL;)

sure would be nice to have money. i'd have a jay leno garage.

Prefer a new one, unless I could find a 67 Fastback restomod

Too plain for me, I'd want modern components - kind why I got my 06 when Ford brought back the retro look.

I'm more along the lines of an 67 fastback eleanor

Frank...

If you are going to dream...Dream Big:
Get an old one...and a new one! :dblthumb2:

Bob

Like I said Bob. If I had money I'd have a garage like jay lenos. Every time I watch mecum auto show, I become 10. I want that one, I want that one

Like I said Bob. If I had money ...... I want that one, I want that one

Frank,

I have that one, :)
Though a coupe, couldn't find a FB locally @ the time or since,
was the same color but changed it to another Blue (Nightmist Blue) through the ground up restoration that took six years, tbh wasn't too crazy for this color......

"If I had the money....", how far off are you Money wise?

Things to consider:

Do you wanna a DD or an occasional fun car?

-You are comparing apples & oranges here...
this is a 50 year old car & the technology wouldn't be on par with a car that came a half century afterwards..., having said that many modifications can be made to upgrade handling, braking, exterior looks, and engine power (but see below).
I could use mine as a dd, it's up to that and more, just because everything in it from the Gas tank all the way to the Alum radiator is new, but I won't...

-These will hold their value best if they are unmolested, and kept in the original & pristine shape in a Garage & not outside.
Over the next few years, this will not drop in value and perhaps further appreciate (in all likelihood), whereas a newer car would loose much of it's purchase price pretty rapidly, unless it's one of those "One of a kind limited production cars", even with those
It's a blind call as to which will keep their popularity & value, besides you couldn't get one of them for $30k anyways....

-the Fast backs are in high demand worldwide, the collector's priority goes to the S code with a 390 engine, then the GT, then the base model ...

When I drive mine around people's heads are turned constantly with a barrage of questions from every other car. I've been next to brand new Maseratis and Porsches and folks stare at mine, why? Cause there are dozens of those other ones on the street and nothing like this one around....

A price of about $30k give or take is pretty decent for an unmolested & problem free one of these, just make sure it is an original V8 through a Marty report....;)

For DD the new car hands down, weekend warrior 67' all day every day.

Old cars are easier to fix - and just generally more enjoyable to work on if you DIY. The one issue with old cars is RUST. Old cars are also a money pit - especially if your not DIY. Expect things to brake on old cars, expect to be stuck on the side of the road from time to time if driving a 50 yr old car.

If you want a Mustang and want to keep things easy, buy a new one with a warranty, forget about the headaches and enjoy. Maintain it perfectly and it will last forever.

It wouldn't be a daily driver. Someday I'm gonna buy something fun. Wether new or old. But I probably will go with new because I'll want to drive it most of the summer

If you have a payment on a car now, pay it off then get and old one and then your covered. DD and a toy. I plan on paying my avalanche off in a couple months, then I am getting a road glide. I've wanted a Harley sinse I was a teenager, so close to getting in position to get one now its killing me!

That Mustang will appreciate in value whereas a new one will do the opposite.

I sold my sportster. Never found time to ride plus I live close to work so wasn't worth riding to work. I bought an 89 vette. But had to get rid of that cause I needed a new car daily driver. So like you said, when I pay this down I'm getting something. I like the new mustangs and challengers but I love the look of old mustangs

I would never want an old pony car or muscle car with an automatic, no way, no how!

The idea of the resto-mod is the best of both worlds, proper size of an old car with the modern touches of a new car and you have reliability too! Then there's the power modern cars make, no contest! Today you can have a 10 or 11 second DD w/ A/C and everything, just costs $$$$$!
