Help!!!! Paint Correction brings out issue on Black Merc

Here is the issue. This is now two AMG Mercs that I have owned and done paint corrections on. Before the corrections looking at the car everything appears clean, shiny, and the TRIM blends right in with the paint, for the most part.

After the corrections the Black Paint is so black and stark looking that it makes the normally dull black rubber trim around the top of the doors and stand out really bad. The Trim on the pictures below is like new and its perfectly clean (as in original new color). You can see how much more it stands out on the second picture (the corrected vehicle pic) I am looking for ideas to maybe help with this issue and getting it to blend in more. I don't like the idea of using any type of dressing that wears off and can spread its residue on the paint. But.... Looking for ideas. Has anyone else every noticed this issue with their details????? Have you tried Wolfgang or Blackfire Trim Sealant or CQuartz Dlux? These may darken the trim as well as give you protection.

I used the 22ple glass coating on the passenger side but it didn't really darken it up too much. I also tried Opti-Seal there too, but it didn't change the appearance. It did darken it up, but it may be the difference between rubber and paint. It is quite possible that nothing even if it was really dark, would make a diff

This is the route I would try too. Not sure a glass coating is what you want to use on rubber trim. I like the BF Trim Sealant a lot on exterior plastics. Haven't tried it on rubber though.
 
First clean the rubber with a some kind of APC or a designated rubber cleaner like the one from "Wurth" that I use a good results at the shop. Then applied one of the mentioned above.
 
They are clean as can be, IPA cleaned for those areas that needed it first. Will get close ups tomorrow. Might order some of the BF items to try.

I shot these this morning. They are clean and as good as new, the middle of the doors appear to have stuff around them, but they are clean, i inspected before taking the pics. You can see how stark the difference is in these pics, and then can reference the original two to see at a distance it stands out. The original pics the biggest area that bothers me is the one in front of the front doors, that is an area where you can even get too. I feel the only real answer is one of the products mentioned above to deepen the color and shine it up a tad and then deal with it. Its just black this happens too. Other colors it blends in just fine. I guess a good problem to have.


 
Wolfgang exterior trim sealant for rubber parts.

Very easy to apply, a little goes a very long way, leaves the rubber a nice shiny deep black, but doesn't rub off on your fingers.

It looks wet, but it isn't.

I use 1Z einszett gummi pfledge for interior rubber door seals, seems to condition the seal a bit and keeps them from breaking down.
 
My suggestion is a two step process...

1. clean / prep rubber with griots rubber prep. Just use an old MF towel or paper towel. It'll get dirty, I typically throw this towel away afterwards.

2. then treat rubber with a thin layer of ultima tire and trim guard.

I Love DLUX, but have not had great results on softer trim rubber

This is the rubber gasket around my roof rack. I would say it is medium to firm rubber

The DLUX looked great after application, but after 3 months, it failed and will require a fair amount of work to remove the remaining coating

On black pebble grained trim, DLUX has no equal

I have only re-cleaned them just to make sure they are perfectly clean, then used the 22ple glass coating on them. (While I did the paint). In anything other than angles such as this, they look like fresh black rubber trim. Its just the paint is so glossy and deep black the lighter colored trim sticks out. I really don't think there is a solution. Honestly I am nitpicking the vehicle with my new PE8 and doing finishing touches. (Cleaned suspension, wheel well liners, re-painting front bumper and installing a Lip etc....). This is something that is a work in progress and over time might come up with something that is better. I really hate to put anything on it that is greasy, runs off when it rains and gets on the paint, or a passenger wipes their hands across it and gets it on the paint. So for now will stick with what is done. I will be submitting a thread on the paint correction for this car and everything that has been done so far.
