Was my drying towel supposed drag with D114?

I used D114 last night for the first time. I loved it! I did notice that my drying towel had a lot of drag/was grabby. Also, it seemed to smear it a bit, but it dried perfectly fine.
Items used:

Megs wash mitt
2bm with hot water
Plush large drying towel
Garage was above freezing, probably not by much though
 
My car should definitely still have DG 105 on it still too.
 
Yeah, it's grabby because it is getting right down to the paint. Highly important to use good MF towels with it. I don't really know the chemical makeup of D114 but I suspect it is a solution of various diols and esters, and perhaps it has more surfactant than lubricant. I'm honestly not sure why ONR stains wash media so badly, but D114 seems to get panels cleaner and dirt releases from media with zero extra effort. It also helps to have a good LSP under it; neglected paint feels particularly grabby, and squeaky clean, compared to coated or otherwise recently protected paint.
 
Would the grabbiness be something that could cause more marring or is it just how the microfiber is interacting?
 
I thought the dilution ratio for rinseless was 256:1?

2 gallons water to 1oz of product.
 
I've been using this on the regular in my 40-50 degree garage and it reacts the same for me, I think the temp is a big factor here

I have only used it once, but read quite a bit. It's ideal during the correction process to remove dust after correction and prior to LSP because it has nothing extra (gloss enhancers or protection of any kind) and does not affect the way you LSP acts (both to dirt and water). There is a popular dilution which you add IPA too it as well to have a panel wipe.
1:128 is on the back of the jug. Meguiars states 1:256 is good for less soiled vehicles. My car hadn't bee washed in a few weeks and there has been snow, rain, and salt during that time.

There are some subtle/not-so-subtle differences
between "grades" of MF-Towels.

•You didn't list your drying-towels' specifications, such as:
-The g/m2 (ex.: 310, 460, 530, etc)
-Nap: long/short
-"Split-ends" microfibers (usually the most grabbiest)
-Etc.

RE: Least aggressive first (M.P.)
-I always start a D114 rinselesss-wash at the 256:1 dilution ratio...Then up the ratio, incrementally, if need be.
-Seems the best practice when also pursuing longevity for the underlying LSP(s).

I think the only time I would want to use D114 would be during an actual detail when I don't want to introduce anything extra into the process (wax, polymers, gloss enhancers, etc). For the same reason I wouldn't use CG Citrus Wash & Wax during a detail (I use CW Red). I know some people do, which is fine, I just don't.

Might I ask why you aren't using DG RW+AW since DG105 is your sealant, that would make more sense in this case.

Does D114 really remove waxes and residues? I currently have WGDGPS 3.0 on my car and use D114 weekly. Am I removing WGDGPS 3.0 and leaving my car with no LSP? I use D114 at a dilution of 1:128.

I think it will a little bit depending on the dilution (if I remember correctly on this video...it's been a couple weeks since I watched it). You should probably be using 1:256 or use D115.

I'll be coating my car soon, that is why I did not get the one with Aquawax.

I was using a 360 GSM towel (basically a very large Gold Plush Jr).
 
Maybe try a different towel and see if it yields the same results, then you'll know it isn't a towel issue.

Just did some searching on Meguiar's forums and Michael Stoops said anything between 1:128 to 1:256 is safe for rinseless. To strip wax you have to be at a much higher concentration ratio.
 
Yeah, I can vouch for that empirically. I've done three RWes on the Accord with D114 since doing a quickie correction and applying C2v3. The first time I washed I topped the C2 with D156, but the last two washes were straight and the car still beads like mad.
