Proper way to use a foam gun?

You can use it before as a "pre wash" before the two bucket method. Or you can foam up one panel at a time with the foam gun then use you wash mitt and clean the vehicle that way. However if you got with option two I would still use a "rinse" bucket.

i use it as a pre wash. i hose all of the big stuff off, then foam, then 2 bucket. if i'm waxing or polishing i'll foam once more and use the foam soap as clay lube.

same as mentioned, prewash/soak then followed by 2 bucket

:iagree:IMO if your car is really dirty this is the best method. Most of the time, the 2-bucket method should suffice. Example for using the foam gun is this weekend I am going to do it because I haven't been able to wash my car for over a month. Foam Gun, 2-Bucket method.

I would. It's not as mandatory as two buckets with grit guards and a quality microfiber wash mitt, but it does provide that much more lubricity when washing your vehicle. I have one and use it on my two garaged vehicles almost every wash. Just gives me even more piece of mind that I'm not instilling swirls and scratches. If it's in your budget (both time and money), you won't regret it.

:iagree: I use the "one panel at a time" method on my daily driver. Just foam up the car, use my wash mitt one panel at a time, clean it off in the water bucket and drive on. Makes cleaning a beater car that much easier.

Good strategy with the 'Free Sample' :xyxthumbs:...I'm assuming by the screen shot your overall intent is to compound/polish the car? I didn't see a wash mitt, two buckets/grit guards, pad cleaning solution and compound/polish on your list. If you already have these, great, I think you're good to go with this list. If not, reccomend at least these basic essentials to get you through the process. What polisher are you using?

Also. If it's a garage queen, do you really need the yellow and orange pads? What kind of shape is the paint in?
I take care of the wheels first
spray the car with water
foam the car with a foam gun and Crystal Soap
go over the car with 4 megs wash mitts starting at the top
when one side shows dirt I switch to the other side
when both sides show dirt I switch to a clean megs wash mitt
spray off the car
sheet rinse the car
quick drive to remove water from the car
use ultima ww+ with waffle weave towels to remove any remaining water and apply wax.
Dress the the tires
Take care of the interior
I believe this method is faster than the 2 bucket method and may be better because even with grit guards not all of the dirt is removed from the mitt.
If anybody else has ideas that retain the quality AND speed up the process I would love to hear them.

This "water removal method" may speed up your process.
However...IMHO:
