please suggest me a good sponge for onr wash. i am using "Armaly ProPlus Grouting Sponge" from lowes. i pre-soak entire car with lowe's garden sprayer(onr solution) but i feel marring when i wash. i tried with mf towel for each panel and it worked well. only real problem is cleaning and drying them. thanks.

I use only a genuine natural sea wool sponge . they are soft as can be, release dirt well and hold up what seems like forever. they also fit your hand well and will get into any tight spot. if you are seeing marring make sure you wash smaller areas top to bottom and rinse that sponge out well. it you live in an area where rock salt is used on the roads in the winter you really should try and get that off at a local no touch car wash using high pressure sprayer. an alternative that I have used for winter is a garden sprayer that you can get for 10 bucks at wally world . mix up some onr and a gallon or 2 of water and you can use the pressure and ONR to lift away heavy dirt before your 2 bucket method with a gritguard in your rinse bucket.

Red sponge. You can get it from SoCal Detail supply. It was engineered specifically for ONR. I've tried MF towels and various mitts. The red sponge is the easiest and best tool IMO. And I even do rinseless on nasty cars full of salt.

That sponge lists on their site for $18.99. AG seems to be selling the same sponge,, but for $5.99.

The Armaly is not a good one to use, I've used one. Go to home depot and get a QEP. Or I believe Lowe's has there former prine sponges in a two pack now.

if you can find them still the lowes proline tile & grout sponge is awesome. can be used for both traditional and onr...

thanks everyone. i will try home depot one first.

I just got a Proline Grout Sponge from Lowe's. I have not yet used it but I will say this:
It is very soft and less dense than the Home Depot sponge. It also seems less durable than the HD sponge. The HD sponge seems to have more pores too (though not much more). I prefer the HD, but plan on trying Lowe's sponge with my next rinseless before I come to final judgments.

I have used all the sponges mentioned above with ONR. The Big Red Sponge is really nice and is much softer than the Lake Country Big Blue Sponge. AutoGeek should sell the Big Red Sponge or a similar sponge of the same quality and texture. I like the Big Blue Sponge for a regular two bucket wash with car soap but the Big Red Sponge is much better for ONR

it gets even softer after it's wet, I have one left and can longer find them... ;(

I've seen the Natural Sea Sponge suggestion before in the forum and have concerns.
I was in my teens with my 1st car back in the 70's (71 Charger).
What I didn't know at the time was the amount of embedded sea material (shells) within the pores of the Sponge.
I did eventually learn but it was to late as the paint took a beating.
A magnifying glass easily reveals the natural embedded material (what you see laying face down on your favorite beach).

So what is different today?

I did a google search and found a Sponge Company that sells a premium Sponge dedicated to the auto detailing field.
They claim to "expertly process" this one particular Sponge on the FAQ's page.
I did not read or see details about this process.
The item page still shows a "contains sea minerals" icon. So I have concerns.

AG sells a premium Natural Sea Sponge..."a rigorous cleaning process"

Does anyone sell a guaranteed debris free Sea Sponge? I don't know and am willing to learn.
Anyway the message here is a warning using just any Sea Sponge off the shelf from the local paint store on a gloss surface.

I'm really confused. Is this "big red sponge" an Optimum product, or someone else's? I notice that there was a video posted recently on the Optimum forum of one of the testers using this sponge, but there was no mention of where it comes from, so to speak.

Is the Proline K-56 two pack of sponges the same as the original Lowes Grout Sponge?
Yes it is. The online picture does not look like the actual sponge. In person itbis the same bright yellow sponge as the single sponge.
