Optimum Gloss Coat...Cloudy HELP

I think I found the problem. I called optimum let them know my story and he mentioned wolfgang total swirl remover has fillers and oils and even with a ipa wipe down this can cause problems. I wish I knew this before I used it. They mentioned use hyper polish to correct the haze
 
I guess you didn't mention that before. I always try to use Optimum polishes before an Optimum coating application.
 
As FUNX said, set it in the SUN for a day or two.

My guess is that should take care of it.

If you read a lot of the "pro coats" they bake em under UV lights
 
I agree with letting it sit in the sun for a few days. I've seen cloudy spots after applying Wolfs HB where I wipe them gone, and then they re-appear, it seems like the coating is interacting with the clear coat and needs to fully cure. I never used G-C, only Opti-Pro

Nice thread you got going here and lots more good advice. I read them all and Optimum probably nailed it. There are several polishes designed for coatings that have no oils. Its cured now and im gonna guess your ordering a coating specific polish(no need to compound was good advice) with your carpro applicator. Get a few of the small suedes so you have some for future use. Gloss-Coat is so easy the yellow foam is ok but not perfect. You didnt use to much gloss coat at 5 cc it was just about right on. Last month i did about half dozen opti gloss-coats with great success. The other method lays it down perfect. I also ordered some of the bigger suede for leveling. My truck has half gloss-coat and half Cquartz UK. My first go at the UK after gloss coat was kinda funny. It didnt flash like gloss coat and i waited to long. It got sticky and was like trying to wipe tree sap off. Yes i had high spots all over and i polished it off. After doing it over i am now a fan of both coatings and coatings in general. I dont think a wax can come close to this level of protection. My Hummer H2 looks like i just coated it after every time i wash it. Even with just a simple ONR wash. Good luck i think you will do great this time and enjoy the no maintenance for 2 years. :xyxthumbs:

Optimum has come out with their own version of this, with an applicator that the MF tucks into so you don't have to hold it, but they don't sell it here at AG.

A great idea and you can also do this with a knife cutting a slit in the sides to tuck your MF :xyxthumbs:

PS - imo not easier (definitely not easier)...but closer to Opti-Seal installation vs. 2.0 installation was. if i had to illustrate it on a pretty arbitrary 1-10 scale:
Opti-Seal: 1
Gloss-Coat: 3
2.0: 5
Pro: 8

Opti-Seal is SO easy to use that it's almost hard to believe it's a real thing.
 
builthatch, I'm only going by what Scottwax and another pro detailer (sorry can't remember who) who stated that Gloss-Coat was easier, unless that was just a bit of tongue-in-cheek or hyperbole, or was a factored statement factoring in the relative longevity.
