Hello all, thanks for the approval!

I am an automotive engineer and live in South Eastern Michigan. I just took delivery of a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze CTD finished in Black Granite Metallic. It is not an incredibly special or beautiful vehicle but I very much like the paint and I see no reason that I should not take the highest level of pride in the appearance of my automobile. That is why I came here, to look for wisdom on how to preserve the luster of the paint and correct the already damaged clear coat on my new vehicle. (It sat on the lot through a nasty winter for nearly 70 days.)

So I want to start out right, thank you for all the great information and product availability.

Welcome to the forum! I have the same color Chevy Malibu

Welcome, and enjoy the site. There is a ton of information here.

Welcome to AGO!

You will find lots of friendly and helpful folks here.

Weirdly it is hard to find "car people" in industry. I am a software engineer in active safety. So I basically spend my days designing systems that protect drivers from themselves.

I had a 1999 Ford Ranger trimmed in White in college that survived 4 upper peninsula winters and stayed in remarkable shape. I then took a 2002 Buick Regal GS in unassuming gray and took it on down to a 12.55s quarter mile. When I sold the thing at 100,000 miles the leather in the front seats was pristine.

Dumb luck I am sure in both cases. I used NuFinish on the Truck and would put it on every 3 or 4 months. The Buick I just armoralled a lot. I used Turtle Wax on it and it kept it shiny.

The depth on this paint is already impressive. I plan to own this vehicle for a long time and put a lot of miles on it. I drive from Northville, MI to Milford, MI every day. Without saying where I work you can probably figure it out. If you do I am not a trained marketing employee and I am not authorized to comment on much.

Welcome to the forums, I'm a former Michigan resident and it is quite easy to pick out who you work for.

I've always had a bit of a car crush on the Cruze, I kept my fingers crossed for a while on that car getting the ecotech 2.0L turbo...that would have made for a nice VW GLI competitor.

I adore my 2.0L oil-burning, turbo-charged four banger. I get the best fuel economy and nearly acceptable power.

I was sailing on Black Lake this morning.

My old neighbor works in Milford, as does a friend of the family, I believe in different sectors/departments/compacities.

There are just over 4000 of us on staff at MPG. The grounds are 2.5 miles x 1 mile with ~75 miles of roads. It's a truly amazing place.
