Today I decided it was time to coat my car, 2014 Mirage.

We washed it
Clay barred
M205
Prepped with Blackfire Paint Prep
Installed one coat of Blackfire Crystal Paint Coating.

The results are stunning, my car never had this much shine and reflection.

Here's the car, all done....

It's very easy to work with the BF Coating
Looking for your first coating to try?
Give BF a try, I think you'll love it. :dblthumb2:

Curious: have you ever put a coating on your own car before? If so, what coatings have you tried on your car and how do they compare to BF?

No, never had a coating on my car.
What sold me on the BF is the fact only one coat is needed.
I found it to be easy to work with.

My car never looked better, I think I had Wolfgang Glossy Paint Sealant on it which looked great but it doesn't come close to how my car looks after the coating.

The price is really good too, $50.00 for a 4oz bottle.

I wonder how Blackfire Crystal Paint Coating would be compared to Pinnacle Black Label Coating. Amazing work, the roof shots are indeed awesome!

Not sure being this was my first coating.
I'll say this, I don't see how any other coating could give me better results than what I have here.

Glad it's on my car, that way I could watch how it reacts to dirt, bugs, water.
The Ford in one of the pictures is wanting it coated but I don't get my order until Thursday and he has to leave tomorrow so looks like I'll apply WGGPS.

My shop is crazy busy which is good.
I'm promoting the BF Coating as week speak.
I've coated three cars plus my car, had just enough.
It can do 3-4 cars as they claim.

I was looking for the answer of my question and Nick said that the BF Coating is more like the Crystal Lacquer, which I used last week, as requested and brought by a customer. So, I got it.
I used the C1 and Exo combo, and my shallow experience tells me that usually the coating that offers more scratch resistance is grabbier (C1), and the coating that offers more candy-like appearance is smoother (EXO). The combo looked amazing, but the price is unbearable, at least for me.
Please, my friend, tell me if BF Coating follows this line of thinking. Is it grabby? Or smooth? Or something in between? Best regards, :)

Very grabby at first, it does feel less grabby as you work the coating , becomes very smooth to work with as you apply it.
It doesn't spread as easy as some of the videos I've watched on other coatings , well not at first but once you have an area covered it then spreads without the grabby feeling at this point.

I think I'll stick with the BF Coating:dblthumb2:
Have to love the price too.

really nice work your doing for your first coating. does it say if you can layer it?[2 coats]

Looks great. Wish I could exchange my DP for the BF just to try.

I wonder if Wolfgang coating will be a quartz based...I look forward to WGs formulation in this category.

I believe Nick said that layering offers no benefit...and the same for topping with BF Crystal.

Sounds like BF is very similar to 22PLE - slightly grabby when finished with incredible shine & hydrophobicity with one layer. C1 and EXO are made really to complement each other, but you can keep layering EXO. Same with 22PLE I believe.

Can you show us a video or pics of the beading/sheeting?

What I also would like to share with you guys is a Chevrolet Spin coated with japanese SiO2 based Three Bond coating that came for a quick wash last week. It was coated two years ago at the dealership, and the owner mostly leaves the car parked outside, exposed to the inclement brazilian sun.
The coating surface looked like a 1000 grit sandpaper. Harsh. You could see it kinda flaking off; if a coating is a sacrificial barrier this coating was sacrified already. I tried some quick detailer, some souveran liquid wax, and some nanoskin Hydroexpress on top of it to see if I could improve the touch a bit, but nothing could improve it except polishing.
But the paint, beneath, appeared very good! I was eager to polish it, to see the real aspect of it, but the owner told me he is willing to sell the car, so he doesn't want to spend any money on it.
It is difficult to find a car coated two years ago and left parked outside most of the time, I felt that this car would be a good subject of study for long term coating durability.
I also believe that, for a customer who doesn't care much about caring for his vehicle, that exposes his car to all kinds of weather, hundreds of bird bombs and sleazy car washs, coating is a way to go. If not the only way to go.

According to Nick laying is not needed, nor do you need a topper but one could top it but I'm not.
I want to keep the look it has now and to test it's duribility. :dblthumb2:

I do have plans to take a video of the beading at some point so you guys can see it.
I'll load it to Youtube soon. :dblthumb2:

What did you use for the applicator? One similar to what comes in the kit sold here?

As I warm to the idea of coatings, the application still worries me. The spray method of the DP product seems a little more fool proof to me vs. applying and spreading via applicator process for the Blackfire. Don't know why.

I'm the same way...I wanna try this one or Cquartz so badly...just can't work up the courage.

It appears the LC foam applicator is what is being promoted for an applicator (that's what they sell in the BF coating "kit"). BLACKFIRE Crystal Coat Paint Coating Kit
