Hi -
I am looking for some recommendations for a chrome aluminum wheel cleaner / polish.

I used some Klasse on them but it did not seem to get all the road grit off.

I remember the old "Dupont Chrome Polish" days and am looking to get something that will keep my GMC truck wheels clean, shiny and protected.

Thanks.

Johnny

I use a really concentrated acid cleaner that I get from my commercial detail supplier. Cleans up chrome wheels like crazy. Then I do a quick chrome polish and DP Wheel Coating.

Meguiares has some metal polishes that they sell on AGO. Chemical guys has some too that I believe is sold at AGO. I haven't used either of them though as none of my wheels are chrome.

Now that I think of it Flitz has a chrome wheel cleaner that Mike has done a video with and the results were amazing.

Doesn't Cyclo/(Pidilite) Industries still retail the "NO.7" Chrome Polish?

Probably the wisest advice for cleaning, would be to use the gentlest product that gets the job done. Usually, this can be as simple as just the use of a good car shampoo, something like DG901, and a nice soft chenille wash mitt.

If one finds a persistent water spotting which can be common, I would then either rely on a gentle water spot remover made by various manufacturers and sold here, such as something like Carpro Spotless.

If it is gentle enough for a paint finish, then it should not be too harsh to then use on wheels.

Or, the use of a decent chrome polish-wax. Collinite makes a Metal Wax that works well on chrome, and will remove water spotting at the same time.

But if you're looking for the very best longest lasting protection and has the ability to better stand up against high heat (wheels do get fairly hot in use), salts, brake residues, I'd then seriously consider a more durable coating product. Such can be something like Carpro CQuartz-CQuartz UK, or CQuartz DLX.

I used CQuartz UK on my Tahoe's 22" Factory Repro Wheels, then maintain occasionally with Carpro Reload. They clean quite easily with just warm water, and a MF Towel. Haven't used soaps yet, they were installed last July.

Thanks to all for your suggestions - I will take a look at them.
