Screwed me again...

I have about 8 more like that if you need to start a collection :(

When I buy buckets locally, I opt to look weird and carryba Grit Guard with me.

Home Depot buckets have always been perfect for me.

Can you not push it in any farther? I didn't realize that buckets came in different sizes.

I have a gray 5 gal from Lowes and my GG fits inside just fine. Maybe their molds have changed.

Meh. That's far enough inside the bucket. Just use that one as your "rinse" bucket.

Yea, I mean, I'm just bummed. I wanted to go with different colors for each purpose.

Orange for Rinse (Rinse)
Grey for Wash (Soap)
Blue for Wheel Brush (Brush)

The Orange from HD is fine. But the Grey and Blue, both from Lowes, fit the grit guard barely halfway down... HD only has them available in orange which is just stupid... (my opinion, but I'm entitled to it.)

So I bought both a Grey and Blue from Lowes, which is fine for the Wheel Brushes, but just bummed that the search continues...

My grey one from Lowe's allows the Grit Guard to go to the bottom, but does not hold it tight enough. The Grit Guard shouldn't be able to easily rotate.

I had the same problem with 3-1/2 gal buckets from Orchard Supply. I ended up wedging in a purple eraser to keep the grit guard from moving around. You can spot it at the top of the grit guard.

HF has plain white buckets for round $4-$5 and while it may be a little loose, the grit guard will fit inside...

If you have a Firehouse subs nearby they sell their red pickle buckets for $5

haha! i was about to suggest the same thing! The Firehouse Subs by my house sells them for $2. I got a like 20 in my garage. I am also a Police Officer so I get them to support my brother and sisters in Red.

I was guessing on the price, it may be $2. You can also check the bakery section of your grocery store or Wal-Mart. I've heard they will give you the 5 gallon icing buckets for free.

Myself, I have about 25 5 gallon buckets with lids and gaskets that I got for free from working in a restaurant.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with pickle buckets. My wife can get as many as she wants from work. I think I have 10 with lids. My only issue is getting the lids not to smell like pickles anymore. Anyone got a secret beyond soaking in lemon Lysol and time?

I've heard cleaning them and leaving them in sunlight help speed up the process

Yeah, leaving in the sun works. I picked up a few 200 litre plastic pickle/olive barrels to make rain barrels and no amount of washing desmellerated them immediately. I filled them with cold water and a cup of bleach and left them in the sun for a couple of days. Presto.
