Glass Cleaning

CarPro FastGlass "towels" work like magic.

That said, I tend to use D120 with a waffle-weave. Or steam. :)

It's becoming common practice with his posts. I guess when you detail "Michael Jordan's jet" you can be snobby....LOL :eyesroll:

We all do the same thing, detail,it's just that there is more than one method to the madness, so by sharing ones method with others broadens our knowledge by making us better in each situation. Keep on detailing.

To much special solutions mixed and fancy towels ,I just don't know why all the confusion.

let me explain: this is a forum composed of largely hobbyists, with a few pros of varying degrees sprinkled here and there. autogeek survives on people buying products. the companies market to all of these people who are always looking to refine their process within their hobby. it's fun for them to buy stuff and try it out, take tips from others and see if their process is superior, etc. at times this involves different things, sometimes MANY different things. time isn't necessarily money with a lot of people here as many are doing largely their own cars and for fun.

Been trying different glass cleaners for last 4 years and believe it or not the one that works for me is Windex (original blue stuff). I do buff with glass towel (dry no spray). I try to keep it off any rubber or vinyl as it contains Amonium but best results winter and summer. Still have lots of old product to use up so occasionally will apply in a pinch. Not saying they don't work, just saying Windex for me.

Crispy:
If you are set on Windex Original as a glass cleaner, and for auto glass specifically, try this instead:

I clean windows with a rung out microfiber towel soaked in ONR and then dry with a window cleaning microfiber towel. I don't spray anything

you know what's funny....my wife used to use this around the house and a couple years ago i replaced it with D120 mixed with a little vinegar. chemically, i might be making a mess but she has no complaints. nor do i. so cheap. we used it on the counters, mirrors, stove, etc.

Ive tried a lot of different glass cleaners and towels and the best system ive come up with is D120 diluted properly with distilled water and dedicated waffle weave glass towels. Dont be shy to use several towels when cleaning and then go back after with a fresh dry towel to buff the glass.

Haha.

There are a lot of crossover applications from all categories of existing cleaners.
You can also add to, such as you did, or dilute to suit.
Throw in kitchen chemistry and creating your own cleaners, and you can customize anything to your specific application, or just liking.

Good idea, btw.
I will have to try that.

Wash, clay, plastic razor blade with invisible glass as lube, quick polish by hand with Duragloss Nuglass then clean up with duragloss Rain repel. Best way I found for exterior. And of course use glass waffle weave MF towels.

Admittedly I did not read the entire thread.

I use Meguairs Glass Cleaner concentrate but I added terry cloth towels back into my regimen for glass. I love MF towels but they were just not cutting it for me on glass. I spray the terry cloth towel, scrub the glass with the wet side then the drier side and then finish with a good MF towel.

Then the Rain-X is all done with terry cloth towels.

The terry is more aggressive and gets me a better looking windshield and the Rain-X process is so much easier.

YMMV
